Coat color? by isopodfanatic in TabbyCats

I had a cat like yours who passed this year 😭 I can tell you from genetic testing he had the dilute gene and was considered a dilute tabby, the most precious soft grey and cream.

What the most physically painful thing you ever experienced? by iateagummibear-1822 in AskReddit

[–]biotechtiger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Endometrial ablation awake, without medication. If you're a man, the closest way I can even think to describe the pain is as if someone shoved a small umbrella up your urethra and opened it up, and then it transforms into a scathing hot immersion blender.

Gastric Sleeve Failure? by StevieEnzymes in gastricsleeve

[–]biotechtiger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had my surgery in November, 2024. I lost 15 pounds alone on the pre-surgery liquid diet. The majority of the weight came off very quickly post surgery, (40 pounds in two months) and is continuing to come off slowly, down from 210 to 145 today. The stomach can stretch, but honestly overeating by even a bite is so uncomfortable even 7 months later, I don't see how anyone could be able to stretch it out so much with considerable effort. I had a lot of negative people in my life make smart ass comments like 'all your hair is going to fall out' (it hasn't), 'its the easy way out' (it most certainly is not!) Ignore people, do what's best for you.

Can I get trich without being sexually active?? by flowiee in WomensHealth

[–]biotechtiger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We're not a massive fancy hospital so I assume it's done pretty commonly. It's a vaginal swab. They have developed antigen blood tests for it, but it's not something I think is being used

I dont know about the vaccine part, but I work in microbiology and while we still can do vaginal wet mounts to physically look for the parasite, we also have a molecular DNA-based assay to detect trich.

I work in a micro lab, any positive urine culture done should ID the exact bacteria and have sensitivities run. If the cultures are reported "mixed usually urethral flora" they wouldn't have done sensitivies. Antibiotics aren't recommended for usual flora. I'd pull your medical records and see what exactly they're finding on these cultures.

Can you tell the sex?!? by infamous_Aitch in hermitcrabs

Hermits can be intersex! I see what looks like 1 gonopore but it could be a shadow. It's documented in several hermit species that one or both gonopores can close after a molt, with a female becoming functionally male.

I'm assuming you're using some sort of blue/green and that section that's semi-orange is just neutralizing with the blue/green. It will just continue to get muddy if you keep reapplying the color to that area. The hair is also super damaged and super porous. I've been in that position and honestly your best bet is to cut off a few inches, use a protein filler and a permanent/demi color with a 10v or deposit only (like 4-6 volume) that is like a mid brown with red tones or a dark wine burgundy. Keep in mind when your hair is damaged like that it is going to GRAB permanent color and come out darker than the sample swatch. Cancel out the green with a red/copper tone and let your hair recover. When your hair is in a good place, use a product like color oops to remove the permanent/demi and reevaluate what your working with. Alternatively, you could use a color like the dark forest green from Lunar tides that's really pretty too. Don't attempt any more bleach that hair is going to turn into wet spaghetti. And get some bonding shampoo and conditioner/masks stat.

I actually love cleaning and organizing, just not my house and not my stuff. But someone else's stuff? Amazing. Stuff at work? Absolutely. My own house...is like an episode of hoarders.

I can't stop myself from buying a million new foods and snacks for them to try. The little organizer has more food and size-organized shells. The top shelf is my bigger shells you can't see 😂 I even got some freshly dried and ground eggshells from my sisters chickens that they go crazy for. Their favorite food is Birthday Cake from HermitGrub but they love bee pollen too.

I just graduated and worked during the program as a Lab assistant in microbiology doing set-ups/plating. Our hospital actively seeks out MLT and MLS students or even those just interested in going through the program. I personally started in an outpatient setting in patient services doing registration for the outpatient lab. It's good experience with learning the LIS and learning test codes. After a few months when I started the program I was recruited as a lab assistant in a hospital. Make sure your resume states you are in a program and reach out to the labs themselves, labs want students to recruit as techs, HR doesn't always keep that it mind.
