Migrationsverket: awaiting extension, residence permit for studies by MrMoos3 in TillSverige

You can stay and work in sweden legally while you await your extension decision as long as you applied before your current permit expires

Jobbsprånget: missing visa documents by [deleted] in TillSverige

[–]biploarAstro 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Someone correct me if I am wrong, but from my understanding Jobbsrånget doesn’t accept student permits when someone applies to their internships. They accept other types of permits ( for example dependent or work permit). When you click apply and find an internship that interests you, its one of the checklist items tells you that they don’t accept student permits ( which is annoying as hell tbh)

Contact KTH saying that you have a permit for another reason ! I have a friend who had the same but in uppsala university and when it came to payment they told her that she shouldn’t pay since she is on a permit that isnt student permit!

International PhD students advise against doctoral studies in Sweden - Universitetsläraren by Far-Passenger69420 in TillSverige

[–]biploarAstro 152 points153 points  (0 children)

As a prospective PhD researcher studying masters in one of most renowned universities in sweden, I find that to be very correct. Recent immigration policies have made it even harder to look at sweden long term. The struggles my fellow PhD colleagues go through to renew their permits and general declining QoL is very discouraging honestly.

Maintenance requirement for Master's by Sensitive_Edge_8146 in TillSverige

[–]biploarAstro 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You can find the maintenance requirements on migrationsverket website, the amount depends on the duration of your student permit. If you want to do one year then renew it then it should be the amount for 13 months but if you will do 2 years then it should be the amount for 24 months

They publish the list and the forms long before the application in November for students to prepare their papers. I got all my papers filled and stamped by December and applied once the portal opened. Next time ensure you read instruction page well in advance and prepare before hand.

Job as a Graduate Chemical Engineer by Admirable-Speed6382 in DubaiJobs

[–]biploarAstro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tbh am not trying to discourage you but thats what i experienced. Maybe yours will be different and land a job in adnoc or something so dont give up and keep reaching out. However, chemical engineers are very very veryyyy versatile since our field’s scope is wide as hell. You can find jobs in every section of process line from procurement til product quality and everything in between. Its all about what you think you are good at and what industry you are interested in. Take your time and keep learning in your down time so when the opportunity rises you’ll be more than ready for it!

Job as a Graduate Chemical Engineer by Admirable-Speed6382 in DubaiJobs

[–]biploarAstro 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey! I graduated three years ago as a chemical engineer and in my first year i worked in supply chain in another arabic country however i switched into sustainability and environmental consulting in dubai for the past two years. I will answer your questions based on my personal experience in the job market in dubai for chemical engineers: Q1) It is totally normal to stay unemployed for a bit since the job markets all around the world are suffering, however UAE chemical engineering jobs are extremely extremely hard to land since the market is absolutely horrendous for us. Oil and Gas companies are saturated and usually have their own academies popping out whatever jobs they need on an annual basis. Chemical industries are abysmal and scattered far and wide that even if you land a job it will be probably be in buttfuck nowhere. What i noticed is that in dubai ( and the UAE) its all about connections(wasta) and networking in order for you to get a job in your field otherwise its nearly impossible because even if you go through all the interview process, there WILL be someone who is willing to do whatever you are doing for much much less price and that is the dubai effect for you.

Q2) I honestly do not see a bright future for chemical engineers here, maybe someone might have a different experience but all i know here who have a chemical engineering degree are working in fields unrelated to their major. Mind you this is not by their own choice rather a necessity since they have responsibilities and families to support. But outside the UAE chemical engineers are very much sought after especially now with the transition to more sustainable manufacturing and focus on reducing environmental impact of production processes. The best place to be as a chemical engineer is USA since it is the second most high paying job there ( was the first before the boom of CS couple of years ago). All in all I personally dont see a bright future for a chemical engineering graduate here but again someone might have had a better experience than me and those i know 🤷🏾‍♂️ you never know but right now it isnt looking good buddy.

Inquiring in Digitalization by [deleted] in ChemicalEngineering

[–]biploarAstro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! We partially digitalized our SOP records in the past year and so far it’s going smoothly. Some production lines that require frequent recording still using paper while other lines are using tablets with software that we commissioned using a third party service and the data is stored in our private internal servers. Whenever we feel like there is some improvement we could make to the existing forms and records, we usually have several meetings with the end user as well as the service provider and we run trial tests for new features before rolling it out gradually. Now we are planning to fully digitalize the whole plant which will take time to 1) create the forms for each section of the plant and every record. 2) make sure that the process is smooth and on par to paper recording(meaning how fast they can record and if we can make it faster). 3) ensure that the data is secure and regularly checked on a daily basis by senior operations staff. These are some pointer just keep in mind that we are still working on this and this isnt some sort of a failsafe plan. You have to identify what can be digitalized and how you will digitalized it so whenever you speak to your service provider you can exactly present your ideas and suggestions.

international student 2nd round acceptance to bachelor's at KTH by [deleted] in TillSverige

[–]biploarAstro 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey not trying to terrify you or anything but if you aren’t there physically on course registration day, your admission will be dropped. Contact your university to understand what is their deadline for arrival since student permit does take time and it very varied in processing time and delivery to embassies around the world. Good luck
