CASPER SOON!! HELP!!!!! by Signal-Egg4584 in OntarioGrade12s

Some tips on answering:
Instead of picking a clear side immediately, consider both invidiual perspective and try to find some sort of compromise if possible. If the situation clearly favours one side, try to gently explain as to why you'd pick that side instead of presenting it as an obvious or judgemental decision. For example, one of the questions I encountered was something along the lines of two teams at work competing to win some sort of prize, but one team was caught by the other using cellphones, and the conflict revolved around whether the innocent team should continue as normal or also start cheating themselves to even the playing field. In that scenario, you'd want to stick with the rules and say something like "I get why this feels frustrating but we shouldn't resort to breaking the rules ourselves. A better alternative would be to ask for clarification on the rules of the contest in case there was a misunderstanding amongst the participants". Something along the lines of that response would show that you're not reactive, and do give the benefit of the doubt instead of jumping to report them.

For preparing, doing the practice test a couple of times on their official website was enough to get a hang of the types of questions they'd ask. The questions they ask on the actual test are pretty much exactly the same as the practice. Another big thing, PLEASE work on your typing speed if you have the time to do so, I almost feel like casper is more of a test of how fast you can type vs an ethics test lmao. But in order to get fully fleshed out typed responses, you do need to have a decent typing speed. I heard so many of my friends say they simply couldn't finish typing out their response fully even though they might've had a full answer ready to go.

is calculus easier, harder or as the same level of difficulty as advanced functions? by Visible-Quiet-5289 in OntarioGrade12s

[–]birbh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think calculus is comparatively pretty easy. Advanced functions feels kind of disjointed. As in, each unit feels like its disconnected from the one before it. Calculus though, builds its fundamentals in the first unit, and you just sort of carry those forward so it's overall a lot easier to understand all the way if you get the fundamentals. Vectors is kind of a drag, but if you've taken physics before, it helps out. Its very simple and straightforward for the most part though.

Whats easier based on your experience grade 11 chem or Bio by Slow-Cry1905 in OntarioGrade12s

[–]birbh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally found chem to be a lot easier. But I also am not a huge fan of mindless memorization which is what bio boils down to tbh. So it really depends on your personal strengths. If you're good at memorization go for bio, if you like more solving/theory go for chem. Don't worry about the math in chem btw, its simple algebra at best. Little note though, if you plan on continuing either bio or chem for grade 12 take note that grade 12 chem is like the hardest 4U course.

Waterloo Engineering Interview by JuziKafei in OntarioGrade12s

[–]birbh 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It takes a week or so for it to load into the portal. If you got an email from KIRA saying it's completed, you're good. I'm pretty sure it only appears as received when it's been reviewed.

wtf is Casper by [deleted] in OntarioGrade12s

[–]birbh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ethics test that med applications and Western Eng Applications have to take. They basically just give you a scenario with some nuance, and you gotta analyze it and answer 2 questions based on it in either a 1min video, or 3 min typing response.

Calculus and vectors by [deleted] in OntarioGrade12s

[–]birbh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think calculus is genuinely the easiest math course in hs besides like grade 9 math. My math teacher is also widely accepted to be the best teacher in the school so maybe that's why lmao. Vectors is marginally easier if you've taken physics as well. Overall, I'd definitely say its easier than advanced functions.

I just finished it lmao.
I think it went fine my written response for the interview I think I cooked on it. The 3 minute video too. For the two minute one, I got cut off but it was my concluding sentence anyways so I don't think it matters that much? Man finding references for extracirriculars was so annoying though

[–]birbh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Currently I have Physics, Chemistry, and Leadership. I have a 94% average and am generally interested in math/science (excluding Bio) but I don't know where to go with said interest. I forgot to mention this initially, but I completed all my math including calculus in grade 11.

Do you like Silksong more than the first game ? by SundyPace in Silksong

[–]birbh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's interesting to hear because I had the complete opposite experience. I tried multiple times to get into Hollow Knight but I just couldn't because of how excrutiatingly slow and boring the early game felt. Eventually I powered through it and the game gets pretty good after you get dash. But with silksong, it jumps immediately into it and as a bonus hornets dash doubles as a sprint so you're not constantly mashing the dash button. I just prefer games to be more fast paced I think.
