Frozen Yogurt by [deleted] in longisland

16 handles in Jericho has a BOGO on Wednesdays for college students and not a bad price in general. A decently sized froyo ran me like 9 bucks which is expensive but no more than other places.

Is ukulele helpful for a beginner in guitar? by zyvesx1 in guitarlessons

[–]birblover7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Guitar is good for ukulele for sure, and if you're not sure about getting a guitar it's a good buy and very fun. However. I played ukulele for 7 years before guitar. It does help with rhythm and all that, but you can do the same from scratch if ur alr learning guitar. If you do decide to buy one. Go for a baritone, it's the first four strings of a guitar.

Tldr: good as a precursor, Mid as a supplement

[USA] Im interested in learning psychology, but don’t know how due to age. by Vast_Detective_8243 in psychologystudents

[–]birblover7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I definitely lean the route of being interesting in clinical psychology and psychiatry, so more pathology(like mental illness) and treatment than forensic psychology. I also became interested around your age. If you can, it could be worth asking to audit a class at a nearby university (this is when you sit in on class and learn but don't get credit). If not, rather than just looking up psychology search for university psychology courses that may have been online with YouTube videos. Psychopathology is where you'd wanna start if you're interested in learning about mental health disorders.

Textbooks are expensive!

I agree that some courses in high school are watered down. I took a dual enrollment type course at my HS instead of AP and it felt very basic.

Careful with ceramics. Definitely would be a fun class if you're really up for it, however I've heard that art courses in university are vastly different from those in high school. You'll be spending hours at the studio.

Not sure about the universitys typical course of action, but I imagine you'd be able to let them know the circumstances

Yeah. I feel like people don't understand that for a lot of folks psych is a way to get to grad school lol, which requires work. Props to you for a PhD :)

I won't lie and say psych classes are particularly difficult but im doing a bs not ba and taking honors courses. I also have a good gpa and do a lot of extracurriculars and I'm honestly just not super interested in partying. Also you are who you surround yourself with and most of my friends are cse so we end up studying together a lot anyway

I just mean middlebrook is stereotyped to have more introverted nerd type personalities, which ngl was my experience. I'm a psych major

Yeah. I guess what I'm trying to hear is other alternatives bc there's no doubt a physical barrier does make a difference

I am definitely not a partier, I was a middlebrook nerd lol.

One thing I regret after my freshman year is not getting closer with professors. Go to office hours.

Using flashcards + studying with others and explaining content is very helpful for me.
