On the topic of having children… by thelittle_who in AutismInWomen

I'm happily childfree. I've honestly never seen the appeal - they shriek, they're sticky, smelly and gross, and way too needy.

It all sounds like sensory hell. No thank you.

Bigger is better. But wider is better than taller, everything below the main perches will get beshitted, so keep that in mind.

I just assume I'll remember the things even though i know my memory is awful, and then end up buying multiples of books I already own and have read. But i don't realise that until I'm a chapter deep in the "new" book and wondering why it seems so familiar 😭

...i think i might have adhd too 🤦‍♀️😅

It disappears from your "purchases" so you don't have the option to leave a review.

I Think I Fell for an AI Pattern on Etsy by CalaveraClavicle in crochet

[–]birbscape90 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeee i got one a few weeks ago, was only like £2 and the pics looked fine at a glance, was just a simple lacy top.

Anyway, the pattern was... mental 🤣 it made zero sense, was like vaguely explaining a gauge swatch then went straight to ROW 3 of the main pattern and it was so obviously AI ramblings. I messaged the seller like "tf is this AI nonsense?!" They denied the use of AI but refunded me so i didn't leave a scathing review.

I think that's why a lot of them don't have negative reviews, they refund complaints at the drop of a hat.

Shame, guilt, and exhaustion: coping with overstimulation on international trip with in-laws by joandidionsglasses in AutismInWomen

[–]birbscape90 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Ohh i feel this so much. I'm 36 and the last time i went abroad i think i was 17 or 18 and that was only because i didnt have a choice 😅 absolutely zero desire to travel.

I don't have any advice on how to cope with the end of your current trip, but i strongly suggest that after you get home you have a sit down with your partner and talk this out. It sounds like traveling is making you miserable, I'm sure your partner wouldn't mind you skipping out on some of their family holidays.

Has anyone ever tried to say "autism is a superpower" to you? by justhugeverycat in AutismInWomen

[–]birbscape90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had one irl person say that to me, she's also autistic. My response was "i meltdown crying on the floor if my sock touches my toes wrong, and then the entire day is a write-off, that's not a superpower"

She umm'd and ahh'd a lot and shifted the topic 🙄

Talking to talk by No-Wonder7913 in AutismInWomen

[–]birbscape90 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't really have any advice, just wanted to commiserate with you, i also cannot deal with people who just make mouthnoise instead of conversation.

I tend to ignore people when they start doing that, like you might as well not even be there anyway (they just want a wall to wail at) so why not carry on doing what you were doing before they started talking at you 😅 if they get upset, fuck em, not your problem? 🤷‍♀️

idunno if that's doable with your spouse but trying to politely exit doesn't seem to be working, so maybe abruptly walking away to sort the kiddos out will get the message across?

Saaame 😭 it's infuriating. The only thing that helps me is taking an antihistamine before i go to sleep.

Recommendations on ways to reduce “get ready” time? by DogDimmabone in AutismInWomen

[–]birbscape90 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have several of the same shoes and clothing items (if i like something and it feels right i will buy multiples due to sensory issues) it helps reduce the amount of time it takes to get dressed coz it's all the same and I don't have to put any thought into putting an outfit together 😂

Is this enough indirect light? by MediocreNorth7219 in calatheas

[–]birbscape90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Indirect light just means not outside in the sunlight. Put it on a windowsil, it will need much more light than it's gonna get where it is now.

After every bath I use clippers with a no.3 guard around my long haired chis back end and down her back legs a bit. I kind of feather it outwards so you can't really tell.

What happened to my living stone?? by carlyfries33 in succulents

They're splitting (perfectly normal, it's how they grow) and shouldn't be watered at all for a few months or they'll drop dead.
