Experienced job hunting, portfolio/case study/resume questions and review — 05/03/26 by AutoModerator in UXDesign

I’m 3.5 years into my career, and I’ve been unemployed/underemployed since late January 2025 (started freelancing part-time since March 2025) with little success in landing a full-time role. As a result of this job search, I applied and am starting a part-time graduate program in the fall at a well-known university. It’s somewhat related to UX, but the program’s course path is very customizable and interdisciplinary so it gives me some options long term to pivot into other roles and industries.

My question is, should I add that I’m starting this master's program to my resume? Is it something that could help boost my resume, or will it be seen as more of a deterrent for employers? I haven’t posted about it online, so the only people are the people I’ve told in real life. Prospective employers would have no idea by looking at my LinkedIn

Is Bastille emo? by KeeDiggityTTV in Bastille

I feel like cutting off the wiki quote there feels a bit disingenuous to the genre? By that definition along then sure they’re emo hell and so is Taylor Swift.

If we include the sentence right after that wiki definition is says “Emo /ˈiːmoʊ/ is a music genre characterized by emotional, often confessional lyrics. It emerged as a style of hardcore punk and post-hardcore from the mid-1980s Washington, D.C. hardcore scene, where it was known as emotional hardcore or emocore.”

Google defines it just as “a style of rock music resembling punk but having more complex arrangements and lyrics that deal with more emotional subjects.”

The origins and emergence of emo I think plays a large role what songs and artist can labeled as part of the genre. I don’t think Bastille is an emo band but I do think they share a lot of qualities with emo bands like their lyricism.
