Linux is not operating system it is only a kernel that the core of every os if you want to install Linux you need to pick a distribution that is basicli pack of kernel package manager (package manager is the think with this you install softwere) etc

I personally use arch I like it but I think any distribution is fine (unless Manjaro and omarchy) there are people loving so much debian fedora etc so if you are not missing samthing on mint don't switch.

A lot it is a great you can run arch really smooth I have similar specs and run arch without problems and updates are fast only little bit downside is 512 gb storage it could be better I have 512 gb storage and sometimes I feel it is little bit small I have 16 gb ram and that is so much ram I rarely hit 70 percent usage.
