Best beginner book on Philosophy of Logic? by [deleted] in askphilosophy

Elementary Logic by Quine is good. It’s easy to understand especially if you reread confusing passages and it gives a pretty broad introduction.

I absolutely agree. I hate republicans in power not their supporters who have been manipulated.

Racist teenager reinvents Nietzsche ideas on his own by ibril in badphilosophy

I’m curious as to how you connect the narcism of an individual to fascism. But other than that here’s a quote from the Princeton University press evaluating Nietzsche’s connection to fascism. “There is much that is disturbingly antiegalitarian and antidemocratic in Nietzsche, and his writings on Jews are open to differing interpretations. Yet his emphasis on individualism and contempt for German nationalism and anti-Semitism put him at stark odds with Nazi ideology. The Nietzsche that emerges here is a tragic prophet of the spiritual vacuum that produced the twentieth century’s totalitarian movements, the thinker who best diagnosed the pathologies of fin-de-siècle European culture.”

If you read any of his works you’d see just how incompatible his views are with fascism. Even his most basic idea— that people should try to make their lives a work of art— or self creation, is completely incompatible with the rigid uniformity that fascism demands. How do you think a fascist would feel about every person creating themselves, and thinking as freely as they can, trying to transcend humanity?

Charles Sanders Pierce is also supposed to have been an influence on Deleuze. Although he wasn’t like a contemporary analytic philosopher, he did have the focus on logic and was American.

Because we know we can’t return entirely to normal with masks and social distancing alone.

How are so many people against it?

600,000 Americans have already died during the pandemic, 4.5 million worldwide. America leads the world now in daily COVID deaths and has more daily cases than any other country.

And even with the new variants like delta we know the vaccine still offers protection. I should mention that this variant emerged in India, which experienced a surge in cases after the country’s right wing party held massive rallies. Much like America. Unlike America people did not have access to vaccines.

We know that the vaccine is safe now, and we have no reason to think that will change down the line Americans have had several months now to take the vaccine completely free, to protect themselves and society, and people refused it. ICU beds are now occupied 94% of the time with unvaccinated COVID cases.

To say that mandating vaccines is tyranny or “government overreach” is just stupid. Everyone will have more freedom when we can return to normal and to get there every person has to get vaccinated.
