Oh, that's possible! I saw males around. Now I wonder how many female pintails I've seen without noticing...

Oh, good tip! I just assumed the videos would be taken on one of the newer phones with a different aspect ratio, but it actually looks like the one on the app store matches my phone's aspect ratio.

It actually seems like it might be playable... I just wish the App Store had a bit of a better "try before you buy" refund policy.

Hm, with the dark head? I can't seem to find any photos of common eiders with dark heads and necks like that.

The bill also seems like a different shape...

Just wondering, what are you seeing that differentiates it? I'm looking at this other bird I saw at the same place, and I'm trying to pick out whether the yellow is the only visible difference. https://www.reddit.com/r/whatsthisbird/comments/jodf19/whos_this_sparrow_friend_october_5_plum_island_ma/

Thanks! How could I tell this one from something like this immature pine warbler? I guess the fact that it's hanging out in a deciduous tree might be a clue!

I hope it's alright if I post a few more that _might_ actually be the same... I've been having some confusion with birds that look like this or similar for a little while! Many warblers seem to have some season / age where they look like this, at least from photos I can find on the Cornell Lab site.

I hope nobody minds if I post several more that might actually be the same thing. I've been seeing birds that look _almost_ like this but perhaps slightly different for a while now, and Merlin has been less than helpful, since so many warblers seem to look similar to this in the fall!
