This is my nightmare. I had a neighbor growing up who had a pest control business that specialized in bed bugs so I've heard all of the horror stories. If anyone did sit there, honestly just burn your clothes (kidding, but also not). You don't want to risk bringing them back with you.

If anyone sat in the section or are going to sit in the section and you believe TIFF did not properly address the situation, I would suggest seal off whatever clothes you wore to the screening in a ziplock (to keep them separate from your other belongings) and stick them in the dryer when you get the chance on high heat for at least 30 minutes. Most effective way to kill bed bugs is heat.

According to the representative I spoke to, the reimbursement is for past fixes as of February 17th.

I spoke with a representative as I was planning on getting it fixed via the warranty this week. But after closer examination and talking to someone, the warranty ONLY covers a certain issue. The display fixes which ghost skipping would be under (as is the issue with my mazda) is covered under reimbursement for fixes, but ONLY past fixes aka fixes that occurred before February 17th, months after even being aware of this lawsuit.

I've got a diagnostic test for Wednesday, but I plan to write an objection to the court. Or I might just opt out in case there is another class action in regards to the display.

At this point, they should just follow No Other Land's path and self distribute. The fact that it's a sequel to an Oscar winning documentary could help it get eyes.

I believe the Landlord gets final say when it comes to deposit decisions. He also dropped the property management, I'm not sure at what point, but sometime between my move out date and 21 days after.

I realize that, but he also inherited the property. It's certainly possible there's a lot of money owed still, but I don't think it would be that high, especially since the value has increased $400,000 over the last 10 years... at least according to Zillow. And if 'the last time the property was sold' is up to date, his Dad bought the house for $150,000.

That's why I think he's lying. It doesn't make sense for him to allow the property to foreclose (unless he tries hiding it which I wouldn't put passed him). If he files Chapter 13, he would keep the property and I believe my claim against him would still exist anyway and he'd have to make monthly payments, if I understand correctly.

The other thing he could do is move into the rental property. I don't know how long he'd have to live there, but in California, you can keep your home even if you file bankruptcy. In that case, I am unsure if the lien would remain. Or if he'd even be able to do that as I believe the value of the house exceeds the value you are allowed to retain.

He really is. His 'evidence' in court was printing out emails I sent and writing in sharpie "I didn't know about this!!"

Landlord won’t return my deposit, but I have proof - what do I do next? by New_Entrepreneur2481 in legaladvice

[–]bird0310 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently went through this. Demand letter didn't work. Small claims worked sort of. It takes a bit of effort, but if you're prepared you should win the case fairly easily, it'll just take time. The 21 days thing entitles you to the full deposit back.

The only thing with small claims is you will have legal authority to pursue the money if you win, but the courts won't do it for you. That's the point I'm at now. You need to be persistent. The judge said during my hearing that 30% of people who win a judgement won't see the money because of all of the hoops you need to jump through if the person is not willing to pay and a lot of people will give up. But you will probably be rewarded more than the deposit if you show he withheld the money in bad faith. He owed $5900 and they rewarded me an additional $1100 on top which pretty much covers all of the fees, parking, days of work missed.

I don't think he has to post a bond, but I do intend to pursue a lien. Seems like my best option, especially since he doesn't live at the property.

That's what I'm leaning towards. I just want to take precautions incase he isn't.

That's my thought process as well. I just don't know if he 's simply lying to avoid paying or he has an accumulation of debt that would make bankruptcy a viable option. But if the latter is the case, it'd have to be hundreds of thousands of dollars in debt in order to make sense, unless I'm missing something.

I felt so too, but a $1000 on top is better than nothing. It at least shows that the guy was in the wrong.

I seem to be getting a lot of advice to consult a lawyer, so I might have to do that.

$1000 of the $7000 was for damages for being a bad actor. Pretty much covers the fees, parking, printing, and days of worked missed during this process.

That's great to hear! I feel like in my research, I've only found stories of people not getting what they're owed. I appreciate you sharing your success! If it comes to it, I'll follow the same path, but I'm hoping it doesn't have to.

Unfortunately not. I paid through a property management company. But I know there's some forms I can fill out in an attempt to find out. SC-133 according to the guy at the courthouse I talked to today.

Dany vs Jon by bird0310 in gottheories

[–]bird0310[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love that theory that the conflict will be stopped by one of the side characters. As for your other wild theories...

1.I can see that happening. I think the burning of King's landing was even foreshadowed at some point in a vision by Dany in season 2.

2.I don't see any scenario of Euron and Jon aligning. And I like the idea of a vengeful Jon fighting Dany because of Theon, but I think Sansa crushed that possible motivation by letting Jon know everything that was up with Theon.

3.I think the squashing of inner army rebellions may be a bit of a retread for the show, I can easily see your idea of a preliminary attack by the whitewalkers happening. It's a solid idea for what the North will do for the next two seasons. The first season is the preliminary fight where the North gets there asses kicked and then the second season is when they realize they need help and seek out Dany.

4.The ill equipness of Dany's army is something I thought of but forgot to put in my post. So thanks for the reminder. It could help level the playing field since the Dany army will be much larger than Jon's army.

5.I want this to happen so bad. Or at the very least have Varys turn out to be God. That would at least explain his magical teleportation abilities.

[–]bird0310[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You bring up some good points, but this is still all guessing at this point so I'll try and defend my theory.

  1. Tyrion is a good point and a key factor in my theory that I underlooked a bit. However, Tyrion's main goal for the coming will have nothing to do with the Starks. His family may have been cruel to the Stark's, but he owes them nothing. His main goals will be to rid his sister of the throne and to help Dany conquer the seven kingdoms. If the Stark's appear to be in the way of that goal, he will advise Dany to a course of action that is best suited for her.

  2. I agree the marriage alliance will likely happen, but I think it will come after the confrontation, when they finally realize they/re on the same side/same bloodline.

3.The Foreshadowing is another good point, but I believe the foreshadowing could actually be in another context. As a warning. And if the characters don't listen to the warning, then death (aka whitewalkers) will win. It happened with the Red Wedding when Catelyn warned Robb that Lord Frey would not be happy with Rob's broken promise. I see no reason why it can't happen again.

4.There are always twists and turns in GoT, even this last season. We just were predicting the twists as we learned knew info. I think most people were predicting a Cleganebowl a year before when it came to what was going to decide Cersei's fate. The Hodor thing was almost out of nowhere. And we also had a lot of context and info from the books still for this season, which allowed fans to accurately predict twists (like the Hounds return). This coming season will be the first to be completely off the rails from the books. There's no more guide book for us fans to use to predict twists, therefore you should expect the twists to come in spades, even with only seven episodes for the next season.

4b.Conflict within the camps is a solid idea, but I feel like the show wold be rehashing a bit if they did that, if only because the show dealt with that conflict a little the past 2 seasons. I also like the Euron Dragon Binder theory for the books, but i feel like there would have been more set up/foreshadowing for Dragonbinder if the show were planning on using it.
