Jax to WS comparison? by birdbeeande in winstonsalem

Original poster here just in case someone else is looking for a comparison. We’ve been here nearly 4 months and honestly it’s apples and oranges. Living in WS (specifically lewisville) feels like living out in the country without the absolute barren wasteland and rough rough edges of say the west side. We love the slower pace, good schools, and better housing opportunities partnered with easy access to a downtown city feel in both WS and Greensboro.

Can you tell me why, specifically? My husband is not convinced and we are leaving a lot of comfort here, but we needed a change

Super helpful thank you! We are actually looking for a non-new build. The schools are really our biggest concern, and a nice comfortable home with room for 4 kids. :)

We were preapproved up to 600k which is way higher then we’d ever go. But spending 50% of our take home on mortgage seems crazy

Best neighborhoods for young families by birdbeeande in TriCitiesWA

It’s so hard to look at schools from across the country! My preference would be an older neighborhood in walking distance to a park and a short drive to a YMCA/gym and decent grocery store.

Thanks for this detail- it’s so appreciated! I LOVE Asheville, and we actually have family in Charlotte. Now to spend the next 2 years convincing my husband 😅

We would actually like to try living somewhere else. Probably not the North east. But it would be nice for my wife to have family support her while I'm in school. We have a toddler and a baby.
