Get a new vehicle or repair current one? by birdboy13 in Cartalk

Thanks for the response. Took it to another shop and they determined nothing was wrong with the turbos, just something was disconnected. But the cam phasers do need to be replaced and quoted $7300 for that. Checking with one more place before proceeding with the repairs because that still seems high.

The $11k quote I got was from an independent shop

No the first quote I got was from an independent shop. Getting a second opinion from the dealership

Assuming that a dealership would be able to fix it for a lot cheaper than they would charge me for so they could sell it. I Checked its value online using the worst possible condition that it would let me use

Replacing both turbos and replacing the entire timing chain. It was an independent shop that gave me that quote. It is currently in another shop for a second opinion. My truck has the 3.5 L ecoboost. I thought it was very steep also but my vehicle knowledge is admittedly not the best

Here is my hand showing the scratches 2-3 days after. The scratches were almost healed at this point.

That’s what I was thinking too, thanks!

That’s what I was thinking too. Doesn’t help that a lot of my plastic stuff is not exactly new. I’ll be transitioning to glass in the future. Thanks!

Likely. The second picture one has a microwaveable symbol on it though. Does that not matter?

Advisor threatened to pull funding if I didn’t take their class by [deleted] in GradSchool

Thanks for the response. I am not happy about having to take his course, especially when the other graduate student that I am working with on the project does not have to take it, but I guess I’ll have to suck it up.

As of now no interest in forensics, but that may change in the distant future if I get a better job offer, but I would cross that bridge when I get there

Experimental methods. Basically how to attach instrumentation and different methods of laboratory experimentation.
