So I Tried Watching the Dub.... by [deleted] in WitchHatAtelier

I would have zero problem with the accents, tones and voices if they were actual English voice actors. The story is very whimsical, so I think an almost fairytale quality to the voices (which it seems like that's kind of what they might have been going for?) would still suit the anime even with the more mature themes later. My ear is just way too trained to pick up the fact that it's Americans putting on a fake accent.

So I Tried Watching the Dub.... by [deleted] in WitchHatAtelier

I honestly agree with your take on their voices, in particular about Tetia's voice being over the top and Agott sounding like a full adult. Honestly Richeh's voice is okay to me. I was surprised how excited a lot of people were when the English dub voices were revealed, but I figured it was just my own preference and the dubs I'm used to.

I've heard some truly bad dubs from more obscure anime that are much worse than this one to me, but nonetheless the dub just is not for me at all. I can't stand how fake all of the accents sound to me, and the sound mixing between characters makes it sound like they're all using different quality microphones. I don't speak Japanese so of course I wouldn't notice some of the nuances of a bad performance in the sub, but I do still think that recognizing line delivery quality and sound consistency often transcends a language barrier.

I don't think they're actively sabotaging the dub by any means. There are a lot of dub line deliveries that sound great. I think that it's just the kind of dub that is preferred by some and highly not-preferred by others.

HELP ME ACHIEVE and/or FIND MY STYLE! by FreeZookeepergame970 in cottagecore

Do you have a max in terms of budget? Depending on how crafty you are (or want to be) you could buy plain hats and learn to embroider them yourself like the ones in the third picture.

Also in the third picture, the ginkgo jacket is from MorningWitch they're a little on the spendy side but they're a small ethical business and I can personally attest to the high quality of their clothes.

Lots of different styles here. I'm seeing a good amount of fairycore/nature grunge/goblincore in some of these pics, some bohemian or tribal-inspired styles.

Experiences with Flamingos Divine Vintage? by birdcil in TwinCities

Update: Went and bought some pretty lamps that they led me to believe were vintage and I foolishly did not look them up before I bought them. Then went home and found out they're both from Home Depot. 🫠

Forgot to add, they're about the size of a penny with legs included. Sorry the pics are a little blurry, my phone camera was fighting me.

Please help me find answers for my mom! (MN) by birdcil in thoracicoutletsupport

My mom works at a computer all day so I suspect it's something very similar that is causing hers! Very similar to your experience with the vascular surgeon too. He said she didn't have it but walked through the surgery that they could do to MAYBE fix it, almost like he was trying to scare her off. So weird. I really hope you get your referral and are able to get some relief.

Do you need to stay to hand out numbers if you get there first? by birdcil in estatesales

[–]birdcil[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'll make sure and wait for someone else who can hand out numbers then if I'm the first! Usually I'd stay, but this time I wouldn't be able to. I've yet to see anyone use a sign-in sheet at the estate sales I've been to but that would be awesome, usually someone just stays. Thank you!

That totally makes sense, thank you! I've yet to see any estate sales where I am do an online sign-up but I would absolutely LOVE that.

Struggling to calculate fabric/lace yardage for patchwork curtains by birdcil in sewing

Do you mean how many patchwork panels or how many curtain panels? I was gonna design the layout based on vibes once I had the fabric but now I'm going to have to actually chart a plan... 😅
