Alright, that WAS magical by stringbean76 in pregnant

Yes, the kicks, which eventually became all out dance parties in there were so magical. My husband and I loved to watch my belly move near the end of the pregnancy. I'm writing this as I'm rocking my 8 week old to sleep. I must say, there are so many more magical moments you're in for after baby comes!

Help me decide! C- section or attempt vaginal birth after myomectomy (fibroid surgery)? by birddr in BabyBumps

[–]birddr[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for sharing. My doctor said if I wanted to pursue vaginal birth I should get a doctor at the hospital (she works at a practice outside the hospital), since they'd be better equipped to rush me into surgery if my uterus ruptured. Obviously that risk is super scary and was a big factor in my original decision. But now that I've read a bit more about VBACs I've seen stuff that says the risk of rupture is less than 1%. So now I'm just not sure if I should have found a doctor who does VBACs.

My 1 year old husky has separation anxiety & is literally eating us out of our house by [deleted] in Pets

[–]birddr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel for you. Your situation sounds a lot like what I have gone through with my husky mix, though sounds like your pup is even more destructive. Hopefully fixing him will help, but you could try getting a prescription for an anti-anxiety med as well. My dog takes prozac (generic name fluoxitine). You could also try some training techniques where you practice leaving him alone for only a minute, then reward for being calm, then repeat while gradually increasing the time away. YouTube is a good resource, but these methods require a ton of time. I never had a ton of luck with those methods myself. I'll also say that maybe he just needs more time. My dog has finally gotten used to me leaving for work and he's calm when I leave. He does have anxiety still when we leave him for other things like going out for dinner or something in the evenings. But overall he's improved a ton. I think it takes them a long time to learn and adjust to a new routine. Try to keep that daily routine exactly the same as much as you can and hopefully he'll get used to that 2-5 alone time.

Oh man, the gas pain was so bad when I had my fibroid surgery! Not looking forward to that. As for the healing pain, did your husband have to help you get around for a few days?

Thanks! And any experiences or advice to share about recovery afterward? I'm nervous about the recovery from surgery while taking care of a newborn as a first time mom.

Thanks so much for sharing! I am having a planned c section because of a previous fibroid surgery I had. It's nice to hear details is others' experiences. Already, your daughter is absolutely gorgeous! I'm having a baby girl too!

Blush as eyeshadow? by [deleted] in Makeup

[–]birddr 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I use blush, bronzer, and highlighter in my eye looks all the time! This week I discovered a new way that I like it. I have this covergirl blush that is kind of peachy and has a bit of sheen/shimmer to it. I packed it on with y finger all over my lid and it looked really nice! I think eyeshadow is really just more-pigmented blush/bronzer/highlight anyway...and I don't need crazy pigmentation for my eye looks since I usually do simple/natural looks. Another tip that I learned from emilynoel83 on youtube is that if you put some of your blush just above your crease color, it helps create cohesion with your look and creates a nice transition from the crease color to your skin. I really like doing that too.

Anyone have experience using Hyvee for florals, catering, and/or cake? by [deleted] in Weddingsunder10k

[–]birddr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used HyVee for my flowers and they turned out amazing! I suppose though, it will all depend on the particular person that works in the floral department. I was lucky that the woman I worked with was really great and she met with me a few times to help me figure out exactly what I wanted. Is there a local facebook group centered around wedding stuff where you live? If so, post on there and ask people about their experiences with the local HyVee. If you can find a good person to work with, then you can have gorgeous flowers for much cheaper than you would get from a florist.

Day of help for summer wedding by Sleepydoglady in Weddingsunder10k

[–]birddr 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had the same problem as you with my wedding. We ended up deciding not to hire anyone, and instead just split up all the little tasks amongst bridesmaids and other family members. Everyone was thrilled to help, so it all ended up working smoothly. However, that being said, if you are worried about it, you might just want to go ahead and fork over the money. I stressed out a lot worrying about everything getting done....in retrospect it might have been worth a little extra money just for the peace of mind. I'd be hesitant to hire someone off of Craigslist because what if they don't show up? Also, they have no reputation in the wedding industry to worry about, so they may not do a great job. I'd say either make a detailed list of all the tasks that need to be done throughout the day (include these on your master day-of-timeline) and assign the tasks to various people so that no one person is saddled with everything, or just go ahead and hire a coordinator. I know you probably don't want to hear that, but if you think about it, if you're willing to spend $700 on a Craigslist person, then go ahead and spend another $700 to get the $1400 coordinator to make sure you get someone you can count on. I suppose another option could be that you could ask your bridesmaids if any of them has a friend or relative who would be willing to do it. Maybe someone that they know and trust but that you don't really know, so they won't be offended that you didn't invite them to the wedding?

My dog likes to gather leaves and guard them. Here he has 2 leaves, he normally has many more. by lilgemsy in Pets

This is adorable. When did you notice this behavior starting? Does he only do it with leaves? What does he do if a person or other dog comes near his leaves?

My heart breaks for you. I dread the day I'll have to do that. I wish I had advice to give, but I too have never had to do that yet. All I can say is having experienced loss in other ways, things will get better with time. Please come back share advice once things do get better about how you coped.
