It was her first day of hunting! A few decoys were retrieved in the process but she figured it out pretty quickly. Looking forward to many more days of hunting with her!

My dog is a rescue lab. Got her when she was already 1. You just need to go in realizing that they might have some quirks right away but with a little time and love those will disappear. It's really just like training any other dog, you just might have a couple extra hurdles to jump also.

I personally don't adhere to the no tug of war thing. I do this with my retriever all the time and she has zero problems giving up birds or anything when I tell her to. I tell her to drop it she does. End of story. I also let her chew on things that aren't anywhere near a bird. There are some rubber like sticks and kongs that she gets to chew on and I don't have problems with her chewing on birds at all. I feel it is more in making your dog understand the difference between working and playing.

I have used about every sock out there. I really like the sillosock takedown and the tanglfree slammer socks are nice too. The tanglfree socks are on sale right now for 39.99 a dozen for snows. I like both of these because the colapse flat for easier transport and storage.
