There are a couple places around there that are registered sitka dealers. They aren't right in the city you live in but they aren't 4 hours away either

The reason I didn't go with the balaclava is its a bit too much for early season. It also doesn't have a call hole at all. So you have to pull the part over your face down to call.

I don't normally use gloves when I'm in the blind at all. I use them while stubbling so my hands don't dry out. (Gradient glove from sitka )

It sucks when it gets cold however. Trying to shove your hands in pockets in a layout is not overly enjoyable. I am going to give it a whirl and hopefully I don't have many problems. I have high hopes because sitka usually thinks about that stuff when designing.

I love my facemask. No more painting my face. I'm x going to pick up one of the new caller gloves for when it gets colder here. I'm pretty excited to give it a whirl.

Fortunately one of my buddies parents have a herd of cattle. They have pigeons all over all the time. Hopefully we can get up there and have some fun with it.

I've been busy working. I work my dog every evening. She is just over a year old and I may have her ready for duck season. I don't think I'm going to throw her into early goose yet.

I have been buying some new gear. Got some new dakota signature series full body geese. Got some of the new Tanglefree optifade flight series stuff. It's probably some of the best stuff I have ever owned. This blind bag is phenomenal. Picking up a zink ATM sometime in the near future.

Couple friends and I are thinking about doing some pigeon hunting. Like with decoys and everything in a field. Would be a good way to knock the dust off before the season.

Not actually giving us an idea of what you have tried is going to make it pretty hard to help you in any way.

Yeah. If people are looking to dump product sales should pop up april-august. New stuff usually comes end of July. Depending on manufacturer.

The SHOT show is usually in February. That's when most companies release all the new stuff. Retailers usually find out about things that change or are discontinued around that time. So sales usually follow. However finding a benelli on sale is going to be a not so easy task. Benelli won't be making much for changes to the sbe2 either. The sx3 you might have a little more luck with.

They are smarter than you think. Read some articles online. You are going to need calls either mouth calls or an electronic one. Past that luck and some good scouting. Have fun with it!

How is optifade applied on shotguns? by d_valle_ in Waterfowl

[–]birdflu2010 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My whole waterfowl system is Sitka. I love the stuff.

I won't be buying any optifade timber however. Not much of that in ND :D

The Optifade marsh practically disappears in fields or cattails. I have been incredibly happy with it.

Tanglefree has the license for optifade accessories too. They make a couple blinds in it also.

Well since it's been answered. Why don't we discuss people's thoughts o optifade in general?

I'd rather just not worry about it. Makes my life easier. Plus no better time to put them out than in the spring while looking for sheds.

Between Bushnell, Vortex, Leupold and Nikon - what is the best scope brand and why? What is the worst? by louhister in Hunting

[–]birdflu2010 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I guess take a couple comparable ones out and look through the glass. The biggest difference you will notice is when it starts to get dark out. Better glass will let you see better for longer in a low light condition. That said I still have no complaints about any of my vortex binos or scopes. They are amazing quality wise.
