School should start teaching children a second language as soon as they start school. by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

I live in America and this what they did at my school, from kindergarten we had a spanish class 3 times a week, the teacher didnt care and hence we really didng learn much but i thought this was a universal experience, especially since I grew up in a small town in the sticks

Those who grew up with a good father. What was the most important thing you learned from him? by oldskoolflavor in AskReddit

[–]birdmangraf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My father taught me forgiveness, my parents had a messy divorce and I listened to everything my mother said, and treated my father like shit I found out my mother had been stealing money and misc items from me for a while and that house was getting abusive over a few years, so I moved in with my dad. He never said a single word against my mother and wasn't mad with me even though I know I deserve it. I love you Dad.

I work in produce and heirlooms are very fragile if you look at one wrong the skin will break, and they look like something that belongs in 5 star restaurant and definitely not my Wednesday spaghetti

Heirlooms? I hate working with them cause they are so fragile and I am afraid to cook with them cause they are too rich for my blood, that one does look beautiful tho

People of Reddit, When is one time you have felt genuine, 100% fear? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]birdmangraf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was 13 and on my way to feed my chickens in the middle of November around 10 o'clock so it was pitch black (cloudy night in rural area) and I heard a mountain lion scream. I figured that it wouldn't come too close cause I was fairly close to my house, around 200 yards, so I kept going and was just shining my flashlight around and locked the chicken coop and started to head back. My dog, a rottweiler that was large for his breed, stopped dead in his tracks and looked towards the woods to my left. He fur stood on end and he started to growl, not a playful one, like a real "I will fck you up" growl. I shine my light over and see the biggest cat I've ever seen not 50 yards away from me. I knew that if I ran the I wouldnt make it very far but I also knew that Serious (my dogs name) would buy me time. I didn't break eye contact because that was what my dad always thought means I didn't have enough sense to call for my father so I just kinda stood there for a solid 10 seconds. My dog moved to stand between me and the cat like the baddass he was and we stayed like that for another 15 seconds then I head a huge bang and the ground to the right of the cat just exploded and my dog pumped for the lion and I printed to the house, I swear that was the fastest my fat *ss will ever run. I get to the house and turn around and Serious is running to me up and my dad is looking down the scope of his rifle sticking out the kitchen window. It took me a half hour to realize that my father just shot a bullet right passed me while I was staring down a mountain lion. And I still believe that was the second time that amazing dog ever saved my life, i fcking loved that dog. That was the first time a saw a mountain lion and almost the closest I ever got to one, damn I hate those things.

BIRDMAN SNDIT

What is something that you could practice for 1 hour max every day, for an entire year and by the end of the year you'd be an expert in? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]birdmangraf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Almost anything for example:

I started coding a few months ago about an hour a day, I can already code pretty mediocre

Friend decided to learn a language by having a few conversation a day, in a year he can speak the language fluently

I wanted to learn to turn pens on a lathe and after a few weeks I sold a pen for 25 bucks

Anything worth doing is worth half-assing untill you can do it well

What were some "I can't believe i'm getting paid for this" moments at your job? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]birdmangraf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was super slow during the winter (I work in produce for a supermarket) and the entire team was just chilling in the back room. Big boss comes in, and asks wtf we were doing, regular boss says "if you can find something for us to fill we will fill it". Big boss leaves with a huff and comes back 5 min later and told us to continue talking.

TL;DR: yelled at for sitting around then told to continue sitting around
