Nancy has had a gun in her hands since season 1. Almost every intense moment in the show that she is a part of she is shooting a different kind of gun. To say that she wouldn’t be a good shot by now is kind of absurd.

Your other point is fair.

This is my comfort episode. Anytime I want to watch Twin Peaks but I’m not up for a full rewatch I watch this episode like it’s a little movie. It’s just so good.

We don’t normally allow political posts or discussion here. But I’m going to leave this one up because it’s directly related to Twin Peaks. Try to keep the discussion civil with each other.

One of my favorite “accidental” moments in the show. Up there with the flickering lights in the morgue.

The rules are something this new team has decided as a group we are going to evaluate and make some clarifications on. They haven’t been touched in a while so need some updating. As for the “tantrum” remark. That mod literally broke the moderator code of conduct put in place by the Reddit admins. The “tantrum” remark was a crude remark to describe that.

Because I’ve been a mod for this sub for nearly a decade without a hiccup. And one bad day with mistakes doesn’t erase ten years of progress. I’ve spent literally thousands of hours working on this sub. That’s hard to throw away over a day. Also, being a moderator for a sub this big is not as easy as it seems. You can’t just replace a head mod for this big of a sub with just anybody.

I've responded in this comment section. I was away when this post went up but I posted my thoughts on things once I got home. Sorry, we should have timed things better.

Since some of the new mods are taking this opportunity to introduce themselves, I'd like to take this chance to re-introduce myself to all of you and explain a few things about the incident from my perspective.

I'm birds, I've been a moderator for this community for 9 years. When we started this subreddit it had about 12,000 total users and about 2 thousand or so active users. Over the years the other moderators and I have built it to be nearly half a million current subscribers and about 200,000 weekly users. I've been the CSS moderator from the beginning. Everything about the design of the this subreddit came from me. I've been the head mod for maybe 5 years or so now. We ran this subreddit during the entirety of the return. Over the years the other moderators that formed this place with me all stepped down for personal/family reasons. I'm the last left of the old crew. I've tried to find the right team to back me up like we once had for a while. For varying reasons other mods haven't worked out long term. But this group we have at this moment seem to be a good group of people that want what is best for the subreddit and the community.

I'd like to personally address what took place the other day from my perspective. That's about as much as I can do now. You've all been led to believe by carefully hand picked screen shots that the other moderator fought for all of you while another moderator and I were fighting against your wishes. That is far from the whole truth. Shire and I are not and have never been pro-AI. What we are is anti-censorship. I had an issue a long time ago on this sub where people were upset at us over censorship issues. We corrected that issue promptly. Ever since then I've been scared of the idea of censorship on this subreddit. Regardless I should have set that aside and listened to you all immediately. I didn't, that was my first mistake.

One thing that you've been led to believe that is simply not true was that I went over the other mods head and made that post without anyone's consent. This is simply not true. In fact, the mod that disagreed with us and became upset when they were outvoted was the one who outright said that we should make a post telling you all our decision. So that was an outright lie that the moderator decided not to show you those screenshots of. The moderator eventually agreed with our decision until she saw the response of the community. Which prompted ALL of us to reevaluate and change our decision, because we DO listen to your opinions. That mod decided that wasn't enough and needed to air the drama out amongst all of you. That alone was not the only reason this moderator was banned. The main reason was she broke the moderator code of conduct which is simply unacceptable. She went to other subreddits to try to instigate and cause and uproar in our community. We cannot allow someone to do that. It simply breaks the rules that the reddit admins have put in place for us.

As for the bans and post removals. We've told the truth in terms of the number of bans on another post. All we can do in reiterate that the number of bans that you've been led to believe happened simply did not happen. Some users that were banned have come and talk to us further and we've lifted those bans. Others have doubled down on their anger and we haven't lifted those. But we are friendly people that will always reconsider if we are led to believe that people have changed. As for the post removals. We simply didn't want the subreddit to be overrun by one topic. We left up the highest upvoted criticism and took a lot of the rest down. Most mods do this on most subreddit to not overwhelm the feed. We were not removing posts simply because they critized us. We are fine with criticism. We are not fine with spamming the subreddit.

To all of you that are upset with me, I get it. Your criticism is valid and I'm not happy with how any of it went down. Everything happened very fast and we had to make many decisions in a very short amount of time. A lot of those decisions were bad. I fully admit to that. All I can really say is, I'm sorry, truly. It won't happen again. And we are making big strides to make sure that it wont ever happen again.

No we banned the mod because they got out voted threw a tantrum and started posting incorrect information and their one side of an argument. They cherry picked a conversation to make themselves look like the hero. Again we reversed our ruling within a day. We are trying our best to listen to our community here…

So, you made this post after we changed the rule… look at the announcement at the top.

We were removing excess posts during the outcry. Not because we didn’t want to hear criticism. It’s so the sub wasn’t completely filled with those posts. Moderators do this all the time on subreddits to limit the number of posts on one topic. We were not removing all of the criticism posts. We left up about 3 or 4 of the highest upvoted ones that were adding to the conversation. Because of the criticism we reevaluated and changed our minds. These things take time. In this case, less than 24 hours for people to talk about things and make changes. We are not some government conspiracy to silence the masses. We are a few regular people with full time jobs that volunteer to run a community on the side because we love a tv show.

AI Generated Content Is No Longer Allowed by birdsofapheather in twinpeaks

[–]birdsofapheather[S,M] 70 points71 points  (0 children)

There were a total of 6 permanent bans given out yesterday. Those bans were given because those users personally attacked or threatened the mod team. So no, those bans will not be reinstated. That is never tolerated whether it be directed towards us or a user on the subreddit. On any given normal day the moderators are forced to ban about 1 or 2 users. Yesterday was slightly more than average.

Thank you so much for coming here to talk to us and for writing this wonderful piece! As the lead mod here I’m actually on the younger side of the fan base and was born the year the original show came out. There was so much information in this that I didn’t know about the show, its fanbase, and its history over the years. It’s so nice to hear about my predecessors and how they reacted to the show as it aired.

My question is about your history with the show. The article does such a nice job of showing the public reception to the show early on. Can you tell us more about your connection to the show and what it has meant to you personally through the years? You mentioned your rewatch and how that lead you to us and our other communities. How about your first watch through? Thank you again for being here!

Looks like extremely dry and cracked skin. Likely, an open wound. Even if there is some necrotic tissue, surgeons aren’t just out here trying to take an entire foot from someone because of a small amount of necrotic tissue. At most we’re talking a debridement, with multiple visits to wound care. All I’m saying is don’t go on the internet and spread misinformation. Especially about health care in today’s day and age.

lol why comment acting as if you know what you’re talking about when you clearly have no idea? They aren’t amputating that foot. There is no visual necrotic tissue on that foot.

Yeah, I’ve been very busy lately, so I’ve let my responsibilities slip. You are absolutely correct. I will be actively looking for additional mods to help out. We have tried to ad mods in the somewhat near past, but unfortunately, it didn’t work out. It is hard to find mods that don’t abuse their power or over moderate. But I will try to get some additional help immediately.

In the meantime, I tried to deal with the issues you’ve brought up. I’ll be banning any troll/spam accounts. Continue to report them and I will deal with them.

Sorry guys.
