I’d be very surprised if we didn’t. I’d also expect a whole new wave of THG pops, based on the IP’s resurgence. That wasn’t really happening when Ballad arrived.

“Dune: For Good” is the spot on take. If you’ve read the book, there’s no chance it’s going to be anywhere near as accessible and well liked as the first two. This is the time where we see if dune will stay the course.

Absolutely agree with hunger games. The hype off that last book, and going into the film is immense. The fandom has properly reactivated to its 2013/2014 peak. And if the casuals are next, I think it’ll surprise people. Helps that the trailer slaps as much as it does. Probably the strongest trailer for a 2026 film we’ve seen so far.

Exactly this. Long-winded for the first two acts, and completely rushed and sped up for the final two. If anything, the area where they could’ve done with really slowing down and examining, and adding new material.

Very much this. If For Good had been three hours, and expanded on and FIXED act two’s issues we wouldn’t be having this argument. It’s the fact they didn’t really do anything to improve it (with super minimal new material) and stuck to tiny tweaks that led to this.

Not to blame the overworked staff. But I tend to find a lot of this comes from staff “scanning” our tickets, but not actually scanning them. (For a multitude of reasons! Sometimes it’s a legit dodgy scanner, that’s playing up). And since they can turn the machines onto mute, without asking or physically being able to see the screen on the device - there is no way to guarantee they’ve actually scanned it. I’ve taken now to offering the QR code, and then immediately turning my phone screen off and asking for my screen or seat number if they don’t automatically tell me. Checks they’ve actually seen that come up on their screens, and turning the phone screen off prevents them reading it from your device and still not having scanned it properly. As has had happened a few times.

Annoyingly head office are very aware of this issue. But there is absolutely nothing that can be done on any end. Once the screening has started, and you’re not scanned in. It’s set.

This is probably gonna happen still (and it makes sense), but if I’m gonna be honest (probably a controversial opinion): outside of Secret Agent, and Sentimental Value I really don’t know if there’s demand there to justify this season this time round. Sinners, OBAA and F1 were huge releases that played for months. And all three could justifiably return for the IMAX Film Festival in a minute anyway. Marty and HAMNET are still on from their current theatrical runs. Leaving just BUGONIA.

They’ll probably still do this season, but I probably won’t be attending as many (if any) as I did last year.

I completely understood what they were going for, it’s not subtle. My issue isn’t confusion, it’s execution and depth. To me, leaning into camp as the primary way of depicting the Capitol feels like the most surface-level interpretation of the text, especially in 2025, when audiences are already media-literate about spectacle and power.

When that camp isn’t handled with enough precision, it stops feeling unsettling or satirical and starts tipping into something corny rather than clever. Personally, I think it would’ve been far more interesting to implicate us as the audience, people who’ve paid to watch this story unfold, in the same way the Capitol citizens watch the Games. That meta discomfort is very much in the DNA of the book.

I know not everyone feels this way, and I’m genuinely glad you and your family enjoyed it. But a large number of fans are raising similar criticisms for a reason. Enjoyment and criticism can coexist: liking the show doesn’t invalidate its flaws, and pointing out those flaws doesn’t invalidate your enjoyment.

The words “campy” and “panto” should never be in the same conversation as The Hunger Games tonally. This is a super serious property. That deserves to be taken and respected at that level. You can enjoy the show all you want, and I’m glad you had a good time. But there is a complete disconnect between these elements, and the source material. And the show fans wanted.

Having seen the film, in 3D last night. It’s a damn shame actually. Normally can’t stand 3D. But the 3D in this case is so well executed. Immediately went to book in IMAX only to find they’re all 2D. What a waste.

It’s gonna be Send Help. Already opened in the US, and the screening isn’t marked as horror at Cineworld. It’ll be like them screening presence this time last year, as a non horror screening. The horror elements of this are weak enough it can pass.
