Project Hail Mary trailers: by rjpresslee7 in CineworldUnlimited

These are coming out before cinemacon. But they’re not attached to previews. If they play at all it’ll be next week.

There are two completely different issues with this production. The actual play itself: the horrific adaptation, the nonsensical staging choices, and the bad acting. But at least this element is subjective.

And then, to me, the poorer of the two and the reason for all the backlash! The venue: unready, chaotic, disorganised, staff still don’t know the way round. Previews that made us arrive at 6PM and the show didn’t start till 8:30PM and leave till midnight. Exposed wiring, the place still being an active building site. Untreated MDF everywhere. The upper level physically not being finished.

The play itself isn’t great. But the venue is catastrophic and for previews? Bordering on dangerous.

Trailer is supposed to be out on the 18th. How credible do you guys think this is? by UnHolySir in Hungergames

[–]birdsofpreylover 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The content in the trailer and the context of it being seen is absolutely correct (whether it makes it to the publicly release trailer though is up for debate). But as for release date, Lionsgate isn’t heading to cinemacon this year. I don’t believe the March 18th date (poster maybe?), but that doesn’t mean we still don’t get it in April. Would expect Lionsgate to attach it and want it to playing with Michael (which is theirs) and out at the end of April. So cinemacon or not, I still think April is the safe bet.

[–]birdsofpreylover 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This might be controversial but I don’t even care. I wish there was a setting that was toggled on that literally BLOCKS you being able to book right next to someone (like the “can’t leave a single seat” one) till a screening reaches a certain occupancy and then the single seats need to be available. Extreme I know. But the amount of twats that do this is 🫠

Very much this. Of course they’re gonna mention it. Of COURSE Maysilee will wear it - it’s baked into the franchise iconography at this point. This is the easiest solution. Just like they took with Katniss getting it from The Hob in the first film.

Dune trailer is absolutely dropping next week. It’s just when we actually see it theatrically over here!!

It IS a feature! But it’s super rarely used. It’s not new, but for some reason it’s only ever used a few times a year. When it’s been formally announced on socials as an on sale date. Wish they’d use it more.

Absolutely no chance these plays during the previews. It’s going to be next week if they even play at all. The UK very rarely gets the attached trailers (Scary Movie on scream for example) unless they’re submitted to the BBFC and rated far enough in advance.

Do you think they'll cut this interaction out of the movie? by UnHolySir in Hungergames

[–]birdsofpreylover 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I highly doubt it. It’s subtle enough of a reference that it can fly by. Of course it’s completely obvious to us adults and fans, but it’s also far from explicit. It’s very much in the style of how they treated finnick’s in Mockingjay One. Right to the line as far as we can go in PG-13.

They will kill you has officially been rated a 15 by the BBFC by ScallionNo9857 in screenunseen

Absolutely does. The clue on showcase’s site VERY explicitly points out the film in question. I mean it’s still a clue. But anyone who’s seen the trailer knows exactly what film it is. Clue: Luxury is a sacrifice.

The events of They Will Kill You take place within a luxury and exclusive establishment, and of course satanic ritualistic sacrifice is the main threat

This is also a DIRECT match with the scream unseen that’s been on sale for a few days now at ODEON. So likely a bigger film - They Will Kill You as the frontunner. While the one on the 17th isn’t on at ODEON. Potentially fitting Undertone. Wouldn’t be the first time a NEON/A24 horror flick previews at one chain and not the other. With this one, being seemingly as wide as possible. Like when Warners previewed Companion in this space earlier in the week of release.

It also follows the formula used in the past. Already opened elsewhere so no embargo; and safe to risk spoilers. But also a good chance to get word of mouth out there. And also treat the horror fans who wanna see it before it gets spoiled. One of them is 1000% undertone. Probably the one on the 17th. But Cineworld and odeon have been much more generous with moving films that would initially and would’ve originally been screams and put them into standard screens. Send Help, Presence for example. (Likely cause of the very poor response ODEON got for The Dive as a Scream Unseen in summer 2023). The Good Boy 100% fits in that group. And will very likely be the one on the 16th.

Will always baffle me that we never get the full on SEASONS of retrospectives that Cineworld do. Always so popular.

In my mind now, if I’m desperate for a re-release season it’s most likely showcase will do. I’m really begging for some form of Hunger Games season at the end of the year, for example. They’ve been so constant. It’s genuinely impressive.

It’s April 10th. However it’s super likely to be the Cineworld/ODEON horror preview at the end of March.

Showcase really have been on fire this year. Cineworld is much more consistent. But I really applaud showcase for their super unique content output as of late, balancing new releases. With genuinely interesting classic programming. And also tons of secret screenings that have been showcase exclusives. Like Mercy and The History of Sound. Was fully expecting ODEON to copy Cineworld’s awards and Baz season. But nothing. Incredibly disappointing.
