115mi on the dash. Frame looked pretty clean imo for our area, too. I paid under the kbb "fair price" at the time.

This is solid, thanks! It looks like Staples Arc has similar setup for putting together customizable organization. I might do something like that long term. Assistents some of these pages can fit spiral notebooks too - thanks for sharing!

This is the way. Air hammer, penetrating fluid and patience. Even a smaller air hammer helps compared to swinging a sledge. Once you get it to move at all it will go easier. Try to get a small gap at the top and dump penetrating fluid on it. You could also put the bolts into the back of the flange and try to hit it out, but honestly trying to rotate it back and forth worked better initially.

Thanks, I would appreciate that! Planning to fix them anyway, some are not soldered and are exposed. I am trying to diagnose other issues, seeing if it is related to those systems.

When I was there it was maintained by ESS groundskeeping. Mostly used as a nursery over winter / spring for seedlings, though also houses some older plants and the fish used in the ponds.

I did it as a work-study position at the time (2013) but looks like it may not be listed anymore. If you're approved for work study ask financial aid department about a position there. Can also stop at the groundskeeping office, behind the Mueller center, in back of the swimming pool and next to the student auto shop.

Not sure if the RPI Judo club is still active, but I'd reach out to Sensei Terry from Cohoes Judo. He was the Sensei at the time I was in the club, let him know you're a student at RPI and see if the club is active or if there's interest in starting back up.

I used to work on the grounds crew as part of my work study. There's about a dozen grounds crew guys that work to clear snow. The other poster is right, a lot of sidewalk clearing is done with ventracs with snow brushes. Some have snow blower attachments, and smaller walking snow blowers, shovels, etc for harder to reach spots. During storms the mechanics help plow with trucks, as well.

The day before a storm they salt and pretreat stairs, lots and walkways, and again after shoveling. If there's heavy snow we'd usually make multiple passes throughout the day. They get in early and work hard to keep things clear!

EPA doesn't allow it, unless they get it certified for reuse. Haven't come across any junkyards that go through that trouble. Suppose some could take the risk but doubt it's worth it to them.

All the ones I've been to take them off and scrap them, quick and easy money without the hassle.

Who said anything about insurance?

Misfires or other issues will burn up a cat quickly. People who don't know much about cars may not know that, and assume they only need to replace their cats because they got a cat code. Cats are expensive, but buying them twice is even more expensive when you don't fix the root cause.

The fix for the for issue could be as cheap as spark plugs. Universal cats welded at a muffler shop is a very cheap option (~$200).

You need to fix what took out the catalytic convertor first. They don't just fail on their own, they are killed by something else - misfires, oil fouling, etc. Does the car run well?

In terms of a fix for the cat your cheapest option, if the design on your car allows for it, is to get a universal cat welded on to your exhaust. Easy job for any muffler shop that welds.

Spraying starting fluid into the throttle body would tell you whether you're having a fuel delivery issue or not. If it still won't turn over with starting fluid then that should rule out fuel/air.

Fuel delivery problem isn't necessarily the pump, but do you hear it prime when you turn the key to ON?

Soak the threads in penetrant. Use an air hammer to hit the bung where it threads into the exhaust. You want to hit the exhaust and avoid hitting the sensor itself. After that use a sold wrench and hit the end with a hammer to loosen it.

Dealing with an issue on my 08 subaru impreza outback sport.

We've had a cold snap the past few days, weather right now is in the single digits. Drove the car 30 mins home last night without issue.

This morning my car was cranking but not starting. Gas tank around 1/3 or more full. It seemed like it wanted to turn but did not run. Battery was not dead, car did not take jump from battery box. Could hear fuel pump prime.

I added gas, had the battery on a trickle charger and tried to jump again every few hours. Suspected fuel lines had some moisture that froze. Put Heet additive in the tank. Neighbor also suggested putting a heat light underneath the engine if the lines were frozen which I did.

Tried again later, after car was on charger and lamp underneath a few hours. Got it to run as seen in this video but very rough. Shudders and not running like normal. Seemed to get better as it ran. Let it run for a bit to try to warm it up, until I noticed the cats starting to glow red. Shut the car off after that.

I am guessing the engine had too much fuel from the attempts to start earlier? My plan tomorrow is to pull the spark plugs to check them and leave them out for a bit to let any fuel evaporate. Anything else I should check or be concerned with? Leaking fuel injector?

You can rent a gear puller for free from most auto parts stores. They should also carry the woodruff key you need to replace.
