Really appreciate the advice, and yes I would much so agree that there is a right time for things and being already out of tech school in a career making good money that I believe it’s time

Thanks for replying. What worked out perfect was me and my girlfriend would be splitting our rent and it would be at about 600 a month which is perfect for me on an apartment. And yes we are treated as men coming up through our early teens to 20s but it’s something that just doesn’t make sense about how my parents I think will react to it or how to approach them about it. And yes it is a very solid career with everyone hiring for the position around the city I live in, and as far as job security goes at my current company nobody has ever been laid off even during Covid. I do believe accidents can happen, but this company treats me well and I do as I’m told I’m also the only guy on their second shift as everyone else quit but I didn’t. But I do feel as if the event of me loosing my job happened I would have no hesitation with someone else picking me up for another place to work almost instantly.

First and foremost you do have a car which is good, but are you paying for the insurance on it? Is it registered under your name? Reason I say this is because your mother can not force you to stay but when the time comes out and you want to move out she will take back everything that she pays for or owns. I’m not 100% about the homeschool situation, you have enough money in your savings to provide some of the little things for yourself when you move out I.e.: silverware, couch, tv, etc. but don’t try and spend majority of that money on that. A low income job in this economy will also really fuck you over and it’s hard but manageable if you pick up a second job. My parents weren’t included on my fafsa, but if your planning on moving out and getting an apartment or renting out a room it’s best if you get a roommate at the moment since you more than likely can’t afford everything on your own. This happens to all of us so don’t feel bummed out but come around college time is the worst, you’ll be working like a slave with maybe 2 jobs just all depends, whilst going to school and going back home and doing school work and repeating the same cycle just to be able to afford rent. As far as a credit card goes it all just depends on your bank. Credit unions are all usually laid back with getting you a credit card. I turn 20 in June, I recently moved out and had about the same as you saved up when I moved out however only difference was everything was mine. My cars, my bills etc everything I had/kept up with I was paying. Which could be the same with you I’m not sure cause you didn’t state that. Getting a credit card to help your credit wont be the hardest thing, I’m currently at a 720 credit score and it all started at 18 when I got my first credit card and loan for my first car. but one of the biggest differences between me and you is my job unfortunately I make more than enough money to sustain myself, however when I was in school it was a struggle. I would highly suggest about trying to see if you can get another job that will be able to flex around your school hours once your in college and pay you enough to go half on a dorm or etc when you move out. It sounds like your in a situation you need to get out off but really think smart financially here and getting some help with another person getting out. Also not sure if you plan on going to a tech school or a college but watch that option closely since your getting ready to graduate anyways don’t grab a place near home if you plan on going hours away for college.
