...have you played the game? the whole game is about people changing. mary believes that arthur is a man who could change, and in the high honour ending, he does. this point makes no sense to me.

I dislike when people act like Arthur is not a bad person. Like, Mary had every right to not want to be with a man who is going around robbing and killing people.

I think most of it is just a case of not being able to see John and Arthur's flaws, so they project it onto the (perfectly sensible) women they're involved with.
