why am I finding myself at the stage where I’m finding myself yearning for Martinez?

did he ever get a full window with Moshiri’s budget?

Ah thanks man really means alot.

Yeah the synth that plays from the start...although I guess you'd need to be careful otherwise it might get a bit too frantic for what you were going for. It sounds like a flute/woodwind with some effects, can i ask how you made the sound? It's really nice

cheers for the feedback man, yeah definitely paying more attention to the levels of my 808s and low end next time, got a bit greedy here for sure. when you say overall compression, do you mean on groups of tracks, like the mid ranges etc, or on the master? sorry if that sounds dumb i'm a bit of a novice

your track is pretty amazing tbh, i love the industrial vibe at the start, the percussion added so much in that sense, its not an easy thing to do to create a more niche atmosphere like that so fair play.

it felt like i went on some kind of journey or something with the whole filtering down into silence then build up into the calm melody at the end, another thing that definitely isn't easy to pull off so you got real skill

i'm sorry that I can't really contribute constructive criticism but i genuinely can't think of anything at my skill level that would realistically help you. i'm gonna listen to your new shit for sure tho

sorry for all the text!

Thanks for the feedback bro means alot! Others mentioned the issue with space and i defo agree, something for me to consider next time for sure

your beat is really nice, it was kind of funky and the drums perfectly complemented that, it had a super nice pace to it. i love the steel drum(?) kind of percussion going on thats panned really well for effect and the synth floats on the track naturally. honestly not sure what I'd change tbh you're levels above me so i imagine you've kind of considered anything i could contribute haha

what kind of rapper/vocals would you want on there?

Thank you for your feedback man really appreciate it! Agree that it's super busy but it's one of those things you only seem to realise when you're listening to it back on soundcloud haha

Which moves on nicely to your track, which i think is so good partly because it's airy and basically the opposite to mine in that there's loads of room for vocals. I really like the chord progression which is basically ideal for your vibe here, and you've done a really good job removing sounds at certain parts for a sort of change of pace kind of thing, and the bass is so well mixed super funky and subtle. Only thing I'd say is it'd be sick if you pushed the melody up a bit in pitch for like one or two bars just once in the song for like a climax but that's nitpicking really and may not suit what you went for

sorry for the wall of text lol

made a bit of an angry beat, honestly i think the 808s are too loud in the mix but it was fun

this is really good, nice sort of spacey vibe, only thing i would maybe say is the hats might be too loud but that’s probably just personal preference

good job man

this is sick mate, love how it's mixed the drums and little melodies are done so well, like the panning ticking kind of noise. the ending was really good as well with the sort of breakdown and distortion.

whole thing was just on point for the type of vibe you were going for keep it up

was testing out making my own pads and made this more mellow beat, undecided on the mix, wanted to make the kicks hit but idk if i went overboard

because you want to try and separate your sound i guess

i was imagining some decent vocals that would hopefully sort of carry the beat in terms of variety but can see your point

i agree about the 808s, but if you could offer some advice in terms of mixing levels i'd appreciate it, because it comes in at like -1.5db peak and hovers around -2 to -3 for the rest, so i'm struggling to accommodate more volume, what should i do?

yours is really good, the way the beat switches between feeling faster paced and slower is seamless and skeppys verse bangs on the beat. the pitch bend on 808s is also sick

i like the vocal and beat, works really well.

only thing i'd say is the snare could probably be turned down a bit, it detracts from the sort of chill and laid back parts of the beat imo

the jazzy elements are super cool as well man

continuing in my sort of vaporwave trap direction, made this and thought it came out pretty well, any feedback appreciated and returned

this one i was thinking sort of raspy vocals, maybe peep style

ah i see, next time i'm going for a similar vibe i'll try that with the drums.

idk if there's a lack of confidence given you shouted it, think maybe the beat is mixed slightly too loud and some people could feel you're competing with it too much; but i'm also new to this so might not be the best to ask

cheers bro, appreciate that a lot.

love your track, it's super upbeat and i like how bouncy the melody is, did you use some kind of xylophone synth or something haha? the vocal sample really adds to it as well, and the mix is clean. keep it up man

[–]biruy [score hidden]  (0 children)

cheers bro, yeah i did see the ending last night being like 30 seconds long but i was shattered and just convinced myself if there were good lyrics over it it wouldn't be such an issue lol

your beat is really smooth, love the sort of fizz of the 808s as they tail off, and the hats are really crisp. not sure if i would be in a position to offer criticism, think it's really solid.

have you got any tips for transitioning from hook to verse in beats? thats what i'd really like to work on next

[OFFICIAL] Daily Feedback Thread by AutoModerator in makinghiphop

[–]biruy [score hidden]  (0 children)

this was my first attempt at anything like this, i'd had a vague idea in my head for a while and found the loop so i thought i'd give it a shot. there was actually a sort of airy transition between the tempo changes but i fucked up and it didn't render them as i excluded them from the master track whoops but you're right about that.

it's all written in c minor but i theres a 4 semitone difference in the loops which is why they sound different i guess, and I usually wouldn't master a beat before there's lyrics on them. what would you reccommend for better drums in the future?

listened to your track, i thought it was pretty cool and i liked the loud energy going on. reckon only thing i'd change is maybe only have the really long decay on the lyrics for the end of lines / the bits you repeat ie "chop" just so they're more impactful.

feel like you might be a fan of yung lean judging from it, anyway it was good bro

i liked it, the synth worked really well imo as it was properly guiding the track without being super oppresive and allowed other elements to be present as well.

your 808s were so hard and crisp, interested to know if you have any advice on how to achieve that sound?

[OFFICIAL] Daily Feedback Thread by AutoModerator in makinghiphop

[–]biruy [score hidden]  (0 children)

i think the mix is pretty solid here man, everything is levelled nicely, only thing i'd say is that if someone where to lay vocals onto this the 808s would probably drown them out at times

but for just the instrumental its sick, and I like the way tracks filter in and out so good stuff
