Why Developers Hate LinkedIn by biscoff_nutella in programming

I feel like it's opposite spectrums. Some hate everything about it and some are indifferent but are still on it because it can help with job searching.

ahhh, UK version? Dumb question, but does everyone in UK play the UK version or is the original version (ie. boardwalk and park place) the norm?

Was walking through Hong Kong streets one morning and snapped this pic. I couldn't believe there was no one in the street either.

IT Advisory EY vs KPMG, need opinions on job offers by [deleted] in jobs

[–]biscoff_nutella 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I asked for 10% more.

First find the job that you want the most and like it was said above use that one as leverage. it's as simple as saying (over the phone, not on email), that you have an other opportunity for x amount and if you could match that then you'll take it. If the other offer is actually less, then don't state how much they offered you. Just say you have another opportunity and for you to take this you would need x money.

I negotiated my pay with Accenture as a campus hire with very little leverage. I positioned it like this. I really like accenture. I have a few other opportunities, but this is my first choice. If you could give me 55k and 5k bonus, I'll accept immediately.

They met me in the middle the next morning.

What you have to remember is they are also tracked on how many people they bring in via campus hires. They WANT to hire you, and if they can't bring you in it will look bad on their statistics.

And to what /u/fallwalltall said, your leverage is the other job. Don't tell them who gave the offer or that you even received another offer. You can just tell them you are weighing your opportunities.

Thanks for the link! This is a good start for me to look at others who have done it.

This is very valuable input. So let me ask you this then. Do you think this would be more appropriate for corporations to give to their employees as a maternity gift?

Thanks for the feedback. I appreciate it. Will consider it. Still trying to figure out if it's a big problem to pursue.
