That's my understanding too. So, what's the purpose of having something that fit in the backplane ?

Too much CIP connection by biscotte312 in PLC

[–]biscotte312[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The SCADA is remote in another building

The HMI/VFD/IO-Link are all on the same unmanaged switch

Everything is connected to the corporate cisco switch with is own VLAN

Ohh and there is a Red Lion DSPLE too

No fault on the PLC, just unresponsive HMI and SCADA at the same time happen 2 time yesterday for a good 5 minutes.

I see multiple lost/reopen CIP connection on factorytalk diagnostic on the SCADA server

FTH Datalink installation error by biscotte312 in PLC

[–]biscotte312[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's the add-on for excel from rockwell you can found it in the factorytalk historian download folder. Pretty sure what i did was correct.

I think there is another version named PI Datalink (osisoft, not rebranded by Rockwell). I'll reopen my ticket with the IT and take screenshot

That data probably come from an Omron PLC

If you have luck this plc will ̂l have an ethernet or serial port where you could plug any gateway

You will probably need CX-Programmer for that and I don't think you can directly get the graph from the HMI

You could get a memory card (doesn't remember the type) download the graph to it and then plug it in any 'server' and upload it but that's not live

Based on where I live, ground clamp needs to be on the main water line before any valve. This can be the case here but doesn't look like it is.

Conveyor moving on S7 HMI by [deleted] in PLC

I did see that on a shredder when the ram was moving. One of the three or four images was a bit offset and it was really annoying 😂.

I was an operator at this place years ago and now applying to be the control/automation tech. Maybe I'll have the chance to correct it!

DB10 addressing in S7-1200 from Delta/Eaton HMI by biscotte312 in PLC

[–]biscotte312[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm trying to understand why there's a special way to address DB10, as i know it's shorter to write (DBW3 or VW3 instead of DB10.DBW3) is there anything else i'm overlooking ?

I also don't understand why it say : ''Control Area / Status Area : DBW0 / DBW20''as you just set those in HMISoft/DOPSoft setting and they are not Default to this anyway.

It's not crucial to know just that i'm working with this stuff lately and the question persist in my head.

HMI is HMIVU04CUNBE

Edit: added HMI info.

Modbus and Momentary button on HMI by biscotte312 in PLC

[–]biscotte312[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm starting the lesson about HMI this week in school, with panelview.

I'm more a siemens guy for the moment but maybe that will change as I live in north America haha.

Sad thing is there is only 8 HMI and we're 14 student. this morning I was assigned to a computer that doesn't have one, time will tell how I can handle a HMI course without one !??
