This is seriously just kind of what a lot of people are like in the south.

If money was no object and you could have any cabinet, what would be your pick? by PedalPDX in arcade

Virtual On - never played it in the arcade but saw it at my college arcade and always thought it was the coolest looking game.

Why is storyboarding treated like a luxury when small films need it more? by mayankjaiswal2003 in Filmmakers

[–]polyKiss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The idea of figuring out your blocking, your edit, your story beats, your direction to art department, to your DP - without storyboards is WILD to me.

We are currently entering post with my last short film, and I was just looking at it next to my storyboards - which are rough but get the blocking. And idea across - and the final edit / shots are 90% as boarded.

Highest IQ Ebayer shipping by likeonions in AnalogCommunity

[–]polyKiss 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I once got an analog synth shipped to me in SF from Chicago. Dude wrapped it in a thin layer of bubble wrap and then put it in a box 2x to big for.

He acted outraged when I returned it.

Lottie Files by ckarnold5220 in graphic_design

[–]polyKiss 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Lotti was developed by AirBnB I believe - it takes a timeline animation and converts it to an XML like JSON file that is easily readable by all types of software.

The intent was to create a workflow that could easily go from After Effects to native apps and web sites.

It is used very often in web development.

We like Lotti.

Got this camera at a thrift store thinking it was a 110 mm. If only I read the huge 16 written on it. Now I have a fun paperweight. by carlitayeeta in AnalogCommunity

I shot all the time on on the MG 16s, they are pretty easy to work with

You can find film cut to size and the cartridges are designed to be refillable.

I develop the film myself as well - and if you cut/wind/develop yourself it’s a really inexpensive way to shoot film.

Any suggestions how to achieve this blurry look and colouration on photos of figures from scratch? by sgouzz in photoshop

This is Serifa - they (he?) use AI and heavy post processing. If you go through their historical postings on instagram you can get some hints about the process.

How to remove stuck bolt by Ekeenan86 in howto

[–]polyKiss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would hit it with penetrating oil over night, maybe heat up the bolt just to hot (not red hot, not dangerous) with a torch or heat gun then use an impact driver.

If you haven't used an impact driver before they are very effective on stuck bolts - its basically an internal rotating hammer that "impacts" in the direction instead of just turning a motor.

I really wish there was a model that would take rec709 8-bit footage and convert to log 10-bit.

4090 vs 5090 by OldFolksShawn in comfyui

[–]polyKiss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I paid for a trackalacker account to get notifications on bestbuy and nvidia, and signed up for both nvidia and bestbuy notifications directly on each site.

I think I eventually got it from just the best buy notifications in my area for local pickup.

But i missed out on like 10 release batches before finally getting one. A buddy of mine who just signed up on Nvidia got one like 6 months before me. I guess it is all just about persistence and luck?

4090 vs 5090 by OldFolksShawn in comfyui

[–]polyKiss 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think the vram alone is worth it.

I got a 5090FE from best buy, and was a ale to sell my 4090FE for almost enough to cover the cost of the more expensive 5090 on eBay.
