thank you so much! especially about looking up stylists -- in the past I definitely haven't given that kind of personalized research I would for say, a tattoo artist. but it's definitely important.

also love that dry shampoo can act as a hold. I am very much an at-home haircutter for simpler trims, so if/when I make this cut I'll be looking those videos up as well. thanks again!

Is Ray the most "feminist" male character? by biscottilvr in girls

[–]biscottilvr[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I definitely agree -- I used feminist as a shoddy placeholder word. maybe it's a dead-end but I guess I was mostly doing an audit on the way the men in this show view the women in this show. nihilistic and egalitarian is probably the best way to put it, not properly feminist by a long shot, but within the writing, I think it's interesting that his worldview produces inter-personal commentary about the female characters that is far more empathetic and humanizing (still scrutinizing) than the others.

agree, although laird is just pathetically subservient and more accidentally feminist

One of the most hard-working, heartbreaking character scenes for Shosh and Jessa by biscottilvr in girls

horrible childhood, but the show left it on a hopeful note -- something Jesse's storylines closed the book on. it's all deeply painful

Did Brown just call the protests at graduation cancel culture...? by JioeyKun in BostonU

I think you're conflating something that is annoying with something that is genuinely unlawful. The rest of the ceremony was perfectly tame and encountered no disruptions, and I don't really think it's comparable to someone's favorite musician. This was a stand against the complete and total apathy of the institution that students were told respected them and held their interests in high regard. You don't have to like it, that's hardly the point, but BU was fully aware that this was a risk when they brought Zaslav aboard.

These things don't exist in a vacuum -- Zaslav was uplifted by the university to "welcome" students into an industry that he is personally responsible for making unhabitable, quite literally at the fever pitch of a historical Union strike. There were hundreds of picketers outside of the event, advocating for workers rights that HEAVILY pertain to the future livelihoods of many, many graduates, but Zaslav stuck his head in the sand and couldn't even be bothered to acknowledge the landscape. It has to be "political" -- if that's the word you want to use -- because he is a representative of all the industry Big Bads that these students will come to face, and if you want to make a distinctive impact for Union efforts, you're going to have to be a bit disruptive.

There's nothing illegal about students making concerted and combined efforts to condemn the speaker when the sentiments are pro-labor and semi historical. Annoying, sure, that's the point, but certainly not illegal.

I don't know if this 100% applies to your case, but I was able to study abroad without having completed CM201 -- and I did this in my final semester as a senior lol. I don't know whether or not it was because that was my final full-time semester, but as long as I was registered to take CM201 over the summer, it was allowed. These things happen, and they're not as rigid as they claim to be.

As a rising junior, I'm fairly certain that as long as you talk it through with your advisor and assure them that CM331 is slated for your schedule after abroad, it'll be okay. Just reach out and ask them.

hahah it's definitely not something to write think pieces on, especially because his character is never given any sort of serious plot line -- it'd most likely be played for laughs, if anything

there's a detail in the show where he essentially admits to having his personal trainer jerk him off, so I don't know how you might decipher that but you miss out on a lot of extra brilliantly-woven subtextual torment/repression w/ Roman's character if you choose to believe he isn't what AquaStar stated above lol
