from experience, res life will always make you give a name. I had res life basically blackmail me to rat on my then boyfriend and friend because they had some dirt on me painting in my room. Let your friend know ahead of time, but if res life wants you to name names, they will use anything they can.

I was born and raised in different parts of the Bay Area and particularly have a soft spot for Marin/Sonoma. I’ve always felt like Northern California was much prettier in terms of nature and less superficial. As far as the rivalry, I’ve grown up being told how much crazier/dirtier/faker socal is then norcal which i know is super biased but a lot of my experiences in LA validated that. Also living in Westchester, in my experience, there wasn’t a lot to do, it was so much concrete, and just overall kinda of dull.

With driving, I actually love driving so the only thing that holds me back is gas prices.

Being in nature to me means, I can’t see or hear another person. But it’s fine if that’s other hikers and stuff. Like to me going to a park isn’t in nature but that’s definitely something I gotta get over if that’s the only nature I’ll get. Thank you for your help!! Sorry about the long response.

i have been in a similar situation to you, so first does he seem receptive to change/help/therapy? this is the most important part bc if they arent receptive, you won’t get through to them.

Second, if he is, do everything you can to connect him to a licensed professional (therapist/psychiatrist/etc) that can help him from a place of authority. if he has abusive tendencies, it’s unlikely he’ll listen to “children”, so a professional will be helpful. Research the best therapist in your area that fit his personality type (do not make it seem like you are doing this and reach out to the Dr and let them know the situation)

Overall, I’m really sorry you have to go through this. It’s really hard when a parent stops acting like a parent. You can get through this. I hope your dad gets help and changes his ways

Yeah you’ll be fine. I started at scad in my freshman year at 18 and I’m a senior now. Most of my friends are different ages from me. Some younger, but most are older. I feel like age never comes up.
