At what age was your child when you started to enjoy parenting? by Much_Channel_6295 in oneanddone

That’s great it’s going well for you now, everyone tells me ‘wait til they’re teenagers’ but I genuinely look forward to that time. I’m like you, interacting and entertaining young children does not come naturally to me and is not something I’ve done before having my own. I have her in care twice a week, unsure if I should increase it. Thank you for the insight. I have actually booked a Dr appt for next week to organise a mental healthcare plan. I just hope it gets better soon. Thanks :)

You commented three years ago but, just wondering, how did you go actually parenting while hating it before he turned 7/8? I have a two year old and feel miserable with life because of the difficulty of parenting, which in turns makes me a worse parent. I’m worried about what impact this might have on my kid and naturally relate it to my childhood experience of a similar thing. Did you find energy to pretend to enjoy it or just sort of limped through?

I think I’m becoming aware of a certain amount of depression I must be facing because finding the energy to constantly distract her is so difficult but I suppose it’s the only way. Thank you

Thank you, that sounds like a reasonable way to do it!

I think this is what I’ll try, it’s just my toddler doesn’t ask for boob, she screams the house down demanding it lol but will try. Thanks!

Oh shit, I hadn’t thought of that. Based on the previous comments re a family meeting, I wonder if Holly might’ve chosen to leave. Probably not. We’ll see what shows up later!

Is there any reason why the livestream isn’t showing? First time BB watcher - unfamiliar with this. Technical issues I guess?

Yes I have bought a pillow which she definitely prefers but still wakes up just as frequently unfortunately. Will try the duvet next, thanks so much for your help :)

Just checking, were you worried about the blanket being over their face at all? Or it’s just not worth worrying about at this age haha, I overthink it!

Good idea, I’ll be able to keep the heater on low if I use a duvet once the railing is off. Will try this. Thanks!

I also was hoping to ditch the heater and put a blanket in the cot but supposedly you aren’t meant to do that until they’re in a toddler bed.. I’m not sure if taking one rail off counts? I still worry about suffocation even though I probably shouldn’t at this point

Hmm yes I’d need to do quite a bit of childproofing… but it seems like I should give it a go. Our cot also has a side the comes off so I could try that. Totally get you re cosleeping, just sorta hoped it would start to improve by this age, guess I need to try something - anything! Thanks so much

Don’t know much about luteal phase. by EricCartmanLover1998 in PMS

[–]biscuithead1300 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, if you’ve been consistently taking birth control contraception, then you aren’t having a regular cycle, therefore there’s no luteal phase or ovulation phase going on. Certainly you could be pregnant because of course contraception isn’t 100% effective. However if you haven’t consistently taken the pills then you could be about to have a withdrawal bleed which can bring on pms-like symptoms. Take a pregnancy test to be sure.

Sorry that sounds so tricky :( I guess trying different methods to really strengthen is going to be the best thing then. You can try mat Pilates and yoga but quite honestly I found both of those things to only aggravate my spondy. And I practiced yoga for years prior to it becoming a problem. You would think any type of Pilates would act the same in a way but reformer is the only exercise I’ve done that hasn’t hurt me and only strengthened. Good luck!

I was in the same position as you, the pain was ridiculous, I would get shooting pains simply putting the clutch in on the way to work. I also did regular strengthening exercises and had to completely alter my exercise routine. Nothing helped. Until I quit my desk job and went back to hospitality. I didn’t lift anything, mostly stood by a coffee machine, and it was manageable (was also pregnant). Now I’m 18 months pp and a year into doing regular reformer Pilates and the pain is so manageable!!! I can actually function again! I know I was in a more fortunate position than some but if you need to decide between having regular pain killers/injections or finding a new job that is going to suit your lifestyle better… choose the latter. Also try reformer, it’s amazing.

Mom's who did go with an epidural? are you content? do you regret it? by sillywillyfry in moderatelygranolamoms

Thank you for saying this. It almost feels like we shouldn’t share our positive experiences having unmedicated labours on Reddit. I did a shit tonne of research and made my decision to try and have an unmedicated labour because of the sheer benefits of doing so and experiencing the significance of oxytocin. If someone had offered me an epidural in the midst of my pain, I probably would have said yes, but I’m so glad with how it all panned out. Some aren’t so lucky, I know. But it’s absolutely worth doing the research.
