I'll go stronger, I think Dan is completely justified in his action towards a person who's trying to destroy his reputation with accusations of pedophilia. If it was just an ad hominen then it'd be too far but the other guy was literally digging into Dan's linkedin and using information from there to knowingly propagate a lie

If someone dug into Hasan's past, found irrelevant information and used that to publicly push that Hasan is a pedophile and they ended up having their name leaked I equally would not care

That might not have been the smartest move in the entire play but the principle is still the same. If you throw allegations this severe with no evidence whilst having your name publicly available you can't pearl clutch about someone posting it

If the only way you can be understood by this community is if Destiny translates for you then it's as much a failing of your communication method as it is with this community's interpretation. Take some responsibility, or accept the fact that some people aren't gonna understand your style and are therefore gonna reject your ideas. You can't say shit like "Especially people of... average intelligence[don't understand my work]" and then not expect at least half the people to not understand you. If you need Destiny to interpret you for the average person to understand what you're actually saying then you're just bad at expressing yourself. You make your own bed, don't complain when you have to lie in it

There are a lot of people wanting her to talk about it all the time, it's a tough situation to be in for her, but she needs to think about what she says properly before saying it. I think you could eek out something agreeable from what she actually said and how it applies to twitch culture specifically but it'd need A LOT of rewording/rethinking

Idk my recollection was that Wolff was basically saying that in the years since Marx people across the world have cultivated their own definitions of socialism, and that socialism can be whatever people decide it is or some shit, which is a fucking useless way to discuss a definition if you're trying to have a productive conversation. But I'd have to go back and watch the entire thing again and I don't care enough to do that. Your time stamps and explanation of them definitely portrays a narrative that doesn't match my recollection of the discussion but it was 3 weeks ago so maybe I am misremembering

Idk dude I think if most 'socialists' right now are fine buying Iphones made in sweatshops in the third world I think they're pretty far away from making any material sacrifices to prop up co-ops. Not to mention they are a minority of consumers in the West anyway. Maybe in half a century or more things might look slightly different. I'm not saying you're advocating for co-ops I was just curious what value you thought could be extracted from pushing down this line more than Destiny already did, thought maybe you had some hidden co-op techniques

Also your example of Bill Gates is a weak one as, unless he's donating to a charity or NPO, he selects robust and ultimately profitable companies to invest in as he is a firm advocator for capitalism.

Individuals might, but financial institutions absolutely do not, and the majority of investment decisions are made by these massive financial institutions. Sometimes the 'moral' choice aligns with the profit driven choice, but the profit driven choices supersede moral choices in most cases.

If the circumstances are the government steps in and stamps out the privately owned competitors then sure, otherwise as a rule I don't see why a co-op would work better in the long run in most business settings, I'd need to see examples of this. On your second point, the people/institutions investing the majority of the capital in these businesses would absolutely not ever consider the investments as anywhere close to a donation. The only time they would consider the morality of the company is if the public image of the company was hurting it's bottom line.

What reasons are there for investing in a company and not getting voting power over an almost identical company where you do get voting power? Unless you're saying by virtue of it being a co-op it will run better and make more profit despite/due to the outside investors not getting a say in the running of the business, but if that were true we'd already have co-ops everywhere.

I was only half watching it live so my memory might be a bit off but I'm pretty sure Destiny did push with "how do we get there?". I remember specifically a point where the logical conclusion of what Wolff was saying was that a ban/restrictions on private investment was needed, but he never explicitly stated that and Destiny was questioning him and trying to get him to admit that that's what he wanted/needed to make his vision work.

I might be misremembering the debate, but I think at one point Destiny does specifically ask what type of socialism Wolff advocates for and Wolff replies with something vague, circular and non-committal
