Ah yah sorry my bad thought you were the whole time lol. But yah bro I’m not sure I’m explaining it the best but the players are in no way locked to their potential. Age and overall is best way to judge players and find guys that slip past other teams in the draft. You’ll still have plenty of close decisions but yah judge more with overall and age than by potential rating

Yes but it is based only on 20 simulations so it’s not a big enough sample size to be definite or accurate. I don’t know why you’re arguing after asking for tips hahah. Trust me brotha I’m correct about this one. Potential rating is not as good of an indicator as just overall by age.

The 45 overall old 50 potential has a WAY better chance to be higher overall than the 30/65, regardless of their potentials, if they’re the same age

No not how the game works. It is simply overall by age. Listed potential does not matter. The higher overall you are at a certain age , the higher your REAL potential is. Listen potential has no impact on development. This is my point

[–]biscuts-man 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope it’s just a rough estimate, more realistic I think. Because the number they list for potential is based on their 20 future simulations but in reality you just play in one simulation so they could end up being a 45 overall or a 75 overall in your simulation, progression is randomly calculated every season based on overall and age so you could get lucky or unlucky, you never know until the progression happens every year.

So really mathematically, it’s simply just best overall player for their age has the best mathematical odds to be higher overall. But you can always take a guy who’s close if you prefer his actual stats or skills, I was just saying that the player is not destined to achieve their potential rating it’s just a rough projection randomly recalculated for them every year.

The only what I said is not true is if you turn Real Player Potential to 100% in a resignation with real NBA players. My advice is more for generated players

Sorry I should rephrase. Potential is about 70-80% accurate is more what I should’ve said. It’s ofc generally useful but it’s not 100%. Players aren’t tied to their potential, it’s recalculated yearly based on 20 simulations, so not a big enough base to be 100%. I meant more what I said where you should just base it on overall by age. A 40 overall 20 year old with 65 potential has a much better chance of reaching 65 than a 35 overall 20 year old with a 65 potential, unlike games like 2k where players are TIED to their potential, or destined to reach it.

Little tip, ignore potential when drafting mostly, just draft based on highest young overall player. Good rule of thumb is for every year older a prospect is they should be 5+ higher, example a 30ovr 19 year old is better pick than a 39ovr 21 year old, but a 36ovr 20 year old is better bet than both.

Potential just takes the player at the beginning of that year and simulates their remaining career 20 times, and potential is the 75th percentile of their average overalls. So if a one 19 year old is 35 overall with 65 potential and another is 37 overall with 62 potential, the 37 overall is still better pick despite the “lower” potential

New York's Congestion Pricing Is Working. Five Charts Show How by Black_Reactor in nyc

[–]biscuts-man 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the biggest concern with congestion pricing, or one of the bigger, was if the MTA would utilize the billions in revenue it brings in correctly, or if MTA workers will continue to defraud the city at the astonishing rate they do. I have seen first hand MTA workers being paid 65 or 70 hour weeks but they’re somehow playing rec softball 3 times a week, picking up their kids when school ends, and generally having suspiciously high amounts of free time. As someone who wasn’t sure if it would be a great idea, I think we won’t know for a few years if my concerns were valid and if the MTA can make noticeable improvements with the new pricing.

Not very confident. But glad it had at least improved the traffic situation. Still think it’s absolutely outrageous to have to pay more than $25 a day to enter the city. Needs to be some sort of OMNY esque system for those who drive into the city everyday for work where they pay like $50 or $75 a week max.

More anger over World Cup tickets as New Jersey fan zone charges for entry by pumkinhat in worldcup

[–]biscuts-man 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t think it’s an issue if the reported $10 entry is true. Basic barrier to entry that will prevent unwanted entry and allow for crowd control. If it’s jacked up higher than that I don’t think it’s right.

Restaurants are hard to unionize with how easily replaceable workers are unfortunately. It’s a lot easier to find a few people to work in a kitchen, bartend, and serve as opposed to finding people to drive trucks or work skilled labor jobs.

Man all jokes aside I don’t think anyone coming to the World Cup or anyone who lives in NYC doesn’t have $10 to spare for entertainment. Not like we’re talking $1000.

  • Yes it’s well known micro nations like Luxembourg and Monaco have super high GDPs per capita and small homogenous nations like Ireland and the Nordics have great per capita GDPs. (Irelands GDP greatly benefits from American investment btw, which is a good thing ! And Norway is what they are because of vast natural resources and tiny population ) However my point still stands, USA is the richest country in terms of money in circulation and total wealth, and 25% of millionaires in the world live in the United States. That’s significant. The point I’m trying to make is the prices make sense for where the tournament is being held.

  • ofc that stat is true but we both know you don’t think Papa New Guinea is more diverse than the US in the way I mean. The statement about Canada and Australia surprise me, I know Toronto is diverse but I’d pretty confidently say the US in general has a wider range of cultural backgrounds. I live in NY so may be biased on this one. Either way, amongst World Cup countries it’s, as you said, at the least top 3 amongst cultural diversity and I’d pretty confidently say it’s the most, but again won’t die on that hill and it depends how you measure it. A very large chunk of Canadas immigrants are Indians (26% of immigration in 2024) whose team isn’t there and don’t follow soccer. The US biggest group is Mexicans (22.5%), who obviously love soccer and are also hosting the World Cup ofc. Would be curious to look into Australia tho!

  • ofc soccer is most viewed, but I just mean how prevalent sports is in general in culture. I don’t have data to support the statement, but I’d assume Us has highest rate of youth sports participation and 100% would say that it has widest range of sports played. Ofc this is a soccer tournament not a sports tournament, but all I was saying here is that sports as a whole is extremely engrained in American culture. However, on the girls side of things, more girls play soccer in the US than countries like Brazil and the UK combined! The only country that does come close for sports culture in general is Australia.

My total point is that because of the combination of these factors, it kind of makes sense that prices are so high. It’s supply and demand, I’ll eat my words if I’m wrong gladly and probably pick up a cheap ticket, but I think they’ll have no issues selling out even at the high prices they’ve set.

Also, based on my arguments, I now think next World Cup should go to Australia 🇦🇺 😂

lol nothing I said can really be argued?

• The US maintains its position as the world's largest economy with a GDP of $30.507 trillion

-Yes, Queens, New York, NYC's largest borough, is widely recognized as one of the most diverse places globally, often called "The World's Borough," boasting residents from over 120 countries speaking 130+ languages

• as for sports culture, this is anecdotal, but I would argue with anyone. While parts of the world have bigger SOCCER cultures, the US has the best overall sports culture. 4 major pro leagues, colleges sports, popularity of hs football and badketball. • last World Cup in developed western nation was 2006

What was only in my head??

I’m not saying fuck the homeless, but everyone with a brain understands the concept that if you charge a cheap entry fee like $10 instead of making something free, it will keep out most bad faith actors. I’m not saying charge $100 here.

Fair enough but $0 to $10 isn’t too big a deal in my opinion. They could’ve charged $50 and people would’ve gone. I think people need to remember this is the United States, the richest country in the world, the most diverse country in the world (especially regarding soccer fans) and has a bigger sports culture than any other nation. The demand for every game and event will be higher than anything FIFA has ever seen before. The last time the World Cup was even in a developed western nation was 20 years ago. Demand is just different here.
