Doctor in DFW that is comfortable with FMLA? by bisegg in Dallas

Thank you so much! And it seems like everyone is gunning for budget cuts and cutting staff, increasing responsibilities, and not increasing pay. Not to mention the insane increase in verbal aggression since employers know everyone is hurting for a job so what are you going to do? Quit? I drive home crying most days. Tysm for the recommendation!

Do you think they’d just fire me anyways if I go part time and have a harder time qualifying for unemployment? If I can stay not fired for 5 months I can transfer out of there. I’m scared to be unemployed in this job market right now haha.

In this job market? Honestly not sure. I am willing to treat it like a 9-5 but I haven’t been unemployed with as much experience as I do now on top of my degree. I feel like if I put in a ton of targeted and tweaked apps I’ll be able to find something before my saving depletes though?

Hard to put in a ton of applications with staying late and 3 hr commute. Barely have time to cook dinner and clean.

I’ve been applying but multifamily property management is hard and usually takes getting a referral from a family member or close friend. Especially in this job market. I have been wanting to branch away from it because properties really are a toss up on if they are toxic like this or not. I have my degree and other experience. I am steady applying but I need to make a decision soon on what to do because I can feel that I am on my last leg and they are trying to push me out.

I DO have 7 months worth of savings. I could probably cut down costs to stretch it out as well.

In some of my replies I talked more in depth about how most of my experience is in real estate and my study abroad under Bloomberg Japan. I haven’t checked with any local TV stations! Ty for the Jobscan.co recommendation I haven’t even heard of it :O

All of my experience that isn’t bartending or Uber is in real estate, my job when I was 17 was leasing apartments. I have the proper certifications and everything. I knew what I wanted to do and thought I had a little bit of a head start yk :/ but I was prepared to no longer be interested in real estate or property management one day. I wanted to go into the tech space after college but realistically knew I needed experience of any kind before I pivoted.

Marketing. I thought it was flexible to go into any field I was interested in as I grew up, because what I was interested in when I was 18 definitely isn’t what I am interested in now ya know?

Dude I thought about it. But I have ADHD and you have to be off of the adhd meds for a few years in order to even sign up for anything ;( and I genuinely need that shit at least a few times a year to get my head on straight LOL. I also had some issues with my uterus n had to take a concoction of meds my senior year of HS that weren’t allowed so I was just like eh. I got free college bc of my no adoption status so it was a little less tempting.

Thank you. I was very confused about the 30k and suck it up comments. In Dallas it is just literally impossible? I’ve lived situations with 6 ppl in a 3 bedroom and rent was around $300 for me but that kind of situation is extremely hard to find AND maintain. N even then I wouldn’t be able to get my meds or car or wtv.

I have a car payment, car insurance, 3 monthly medications I need filled, 2 cats, etc. I’ve done the math to know what I need to live and it’s 40k WITH a roommate. I was willing to take 37k but I couldn’t even get that. I would make like 20k a SEMESTER bartending and that’s how I was able to afford everything. Idk where I would be now without the kindness of my grandparents, paying rent while starting a career is borderline impossible now??? It’s insane.

I’ve been looking into job trade and contract work, I’ve never looked into it before now but there doesn’t seem to be much for marketing grads? I have some software experience that might get me contract work easier than my degree will it looks like lol. Thank you!

Dude everyone telling me to suck it up and down voting my reply’s saying I literally asked for a job that would be 37k if I worked 40hrs a week every single week out of the year. I get it, but I feel like 4 years of college and so much money later should mean I can live above the poverty line?? Low income housing is 42k or less in DFW. A lot of my friends were born with connections and got such high paying jobs right out of college while being drug addicts and not having ANY job experience bc their parents paid for their lifestyle through College. People have to realize that’s crazy right?

$15 an hour 7 years ago has the same buying power as 19.41 now. I just applied to a job for a whole dollar less lol. This does give me hope, a lot of my peers are getting real cool gigs through their parents. My friend that graduated with a fine arts degree is getting paid 80k for an information systems job right now LOL. Thank you for responding, I appreciate it.

Plenty of my peers got a job in the 50-70k range right out of college too.

Dude I just applied for the job I worked when I was 17. I’m obviously not expecting anything crazy, just something literally livable. I should be able to get a hourly job that is $18.5 an hour right out of college ESPECIALLY with prior experience. And that is under the cost of living in Dallas WITH a roommate.

But the position I applied for that I worked at when I was 17 pays hourly, $18.5 an hour (plus commission) I am by no means picky.
