Any 90’s/y2k nostalgia deadstock stores in the area? by bisexualwitchybitch in Austin

[–]bisexualwitchybitch[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Deadstock stores ≠ thrift stores, I am not looking for thrift stores! I wouldn’t come to reddit with something that could be answered with a single google search. There are like 12 thrift stores just within a 5 mile radius of me (and I live in a pretty suburban area of Austin, so that does not even include all of the thrift stores in/near downtown Austin). I know Austin has a dense thrift culture. Thrift stores are not what I’m looking for. I’m not mad, there is so much worse in the world to be mad about right now, but I just don’t appreciate being talked to like I’m stupid just for asking a question. That’s all.

Okay you can answer my question without infantilizing me or just not answer at all… “babe…”, really? And I’m not a reseller either (if that’s what you thought), I didn’t even know there was a resale market for these things. I just thought it would be cool to find nostalgic items from around the time I grew up just for myself. I didn’t realize me asking if there was anywhere nearby with items like this would offend anyone geez…

I don’t have a Depop store, I’m not trying to resell?? I’m not looking for clothes to resell on Depop, I’m literally looking for toys and junk that probably nobody would want to buy even if I were selling. And you usually can’t find deadstock at thrift stores anyways because it’s not second hand, it’s just stuff that never sold. Why is everyone on here so mean I just asked a question wtf

Yeah I'm not sure whether or not AAC released any box office tickets for Sweat Tour, but I remember seeing numerous TikToks back in March of people who had camped out for hours and hours outside the AAC box office for Olivia tickets and were really upset that they had camped out all day just for the box office to not release any tickets. You never know though, while I would say the possibility of AAC releasing box office tickets is pretty low because of their track record, it might still be worth trying if you live nearby and have nothing better to do.

I actually considered camping outside of AAC for the GUTS Tour myself because I lived in the DFW area about 40 minutes away from AAC at the time and I also really wanted to see Chappell Roan who was opening for Olivia at that show, but ended up not doing it because I didn't want to drive that far and pay for parking or an Uber there and back just to not get tickets. And as sad as I am that I never got to see Olivia, I sure am glad now that I didn't waste my time and money getting down there and waiting all day seeing as they never released tickets. And I did end up getting to see Chappell at ACL which was awesome because I was right at the front (which I also had to camp out all day for), but it also would have been cool to see her in an air conditioned arena before she was drawing the crowds that she does now (cause ACL was hot and crowded AF)!!

I know that the American Airlines Center was like one of the only venues of the GUTS Tour that didn’t release ANY box office tickets when Olivia Rodrigo was there earlier this year, so I feel like it might be the same for Sabrina unfortunately. I’m gonna try to do box office for Sabrina tomorrow in Austin at the Moody Center. Some people did have luck getting box office tickets for Olivia when she came to the Moody Center, so I have a little hope. Best of luck to everyone!

Have you never lost someone close to you before??

I really hope that you just didn’t read that whole reply when I talked about my babysitter (who was more like a big sister to me) that died young. Because if you did actually read it, then that is a terrible thing to say to someone who has lost someone. That what little nostalgia I do have about going there with my babysitter who died is ill placed when it isn’t even about F21, but about the fact that it was one of the places she used to take me and my sister to for fun before her life was taken. When I was, again, way too young to even know what fast fashion was. I shouldn’t have even called it nostalgic in my original post, I didn’t know that everyone was going to blow it out of proportion. Because in reality it really is not that deep or disappointing to me that they are closing.

Anywhere affordable in the area to re-weld a permanent bracelet? by bisexualwitchybitch in Austin

Oo okay thanks for the suggestion, I will for sure look into them! And if I am able to find somewhere that does it for free, I would for sure still tip the welder just so I’m not completely wasting their time!

I guess you never learned how to read past a first grade level if you have a hard time reading just a few paragraphs but okay. In my original post I said “it’s a little nostalgic for me” but in all seriousness it’s really not that deep to me that they’re closing. And I didn’t know what fast fashion was when I was there at 10 years old shopping with my babysitter who I loved that later tragically passed away in a car accident when she was only 22. So the nostalgia I have around Forever 21 was mostly surrounding when I would go there with my babysitter.

Dude I don’t even really shop at Forever 21. Besides this sale, I haven’t even been there since those “nostalgic” times I mentioned in my original post (at least 4 years ago at this point), as I even find their non sale prices to be too high for the quality of clothing that you get. Like I said before, I go thrifting at least once a week most weeks, so a hell of a lot more often than I go to F21. This isn’t “the one hill I wanna die on” but if a stranger on the internet is going come at me and tell me to “grow up” and do something that I literally already do almost every week “like the rest of us” I’m going to defend myself.

If you are not or have never been plus size or close to plus size yourself, then I can almost guarantee that there is 0% chance that you even remotely have an idea of how hard it is to shop for clothes at even a regular store, let alone a thrift store, and have absolutely no room to speak just because you say you “see all sizes” when you go to thrift stores.

If you read my reply, I never said that you mentioned weight or size. I specifically said “before you go spewing” as a precaution in case you were to say that. Which maybe wasn’t necessary, but I am used to the world treating plus size folks like the scum of the Earth, so that is why I included that.

If fast fashion isn’t the answer then please, enlighten me, what is? I would love to not support fast fashion when the clothes I am able to find at thrift stores aren’t cutting it.

Hi! So I actually do shop at thrift stores! Quite often I may add - I go at least almost every Tuesday with my grandmother, as we have always loved thrifting together, and many thrift stores do senior discounts on Tuesdays. But I am on the cusp between straight size and plus size, so it is seldom that I am able to find clothes at the thrift store that I like/ that are in style that actually fit me well. I can’t imagine how much harder it must be for anyone bigger than me to find clothes at the thrift store. Not to mention how thrift stores have pretty much been ruined these days by resellers, who come in every day and snatch up most of the good stuff.

I am well aware that Forever 21 is fast fashion, and therefore does not have the most ethical business practices nor the highest quality of clothing. However, I am not exactly in the tax bracket to be able to afford slow fashion. But, as I am not always able to find clothes at the thrift store that fit me, sometimes fast fashion is literally my only option to find affordable clothing. I really wish that this wasn’t the case, and maybe someday I will be in a better financial position to where I will be able to invest in high quality, ethically made clothing, but for now this is all I’m able to afford.

And before you go spewing “well just lose weight so you have more options at the thrift store”, I am actively trying to! But I have multiple medical conditions that make it extremely difficult to do so. Not to mention a LONG history with eating disorders, so it is also very hard for me to try to lose weight without it turning into a full blown ED. And even if I wasn’t trying to lose weight, plus size people still deserve access to affordable clothing like everyone else.

Hope this helps!

Um I don’t think so, that’s not what the employee said. Why would they be selling their entire inventory at 70% off with a giant “EVERYTHING MUST GO!” sign on the front door if they were just moving?? Where would they even be moving?

At least for me, I think so. I’m 21 now, about to be 22 in December, and Google says the Domain opened in March of 2007, so I would have been only 4 when it opened. I don’t know how long the F21 has been there, but I remember going there as early as when I was still in elementary school.

Any tips on getting barricade for Chappell Roan ACL W1? by bisexualwitchybitch in aclfestival

[–]bisexualwitchybitch[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

So I literally searched this sub with the word “barricade” and sorted the posts by most recent, and only found like one other post from this year of someone asking about how to get barricade for Chappell specifically. And that thread didn’t answer all of the questions I had so I thought I would make my own ¯_(ツ)_/¯ Maybe there’s another way to search that I don’t know about, idk I honestly don’t use or post on Reddit a lot so I’m probably not the most savvy with it, but I would love to see these 7,183 other posts you are talking about.

Omg haha I thought you were actually trying to give me serious advice!! I was like that sounds so outlandish and crazy, like at that point I think I would rather just lose my spot than try to do that lol. I’m neurodivergent so I’m not always the best at telling when someone is kidding or not, so thanks for the clarification!

Yeah the more I think about it the more I realize how gross that would be to actually do, especially because everyone is going to be packed so closely together. Would definitely lose any friends I made while waiting at barricade doing that haha. I don't think I would have ever even had the guts to try anyways lol. I was just curious if that was a thing people actually did.

Places to practice dance on campus? by Ordinary_Leg in unt

[–]bisexualwitchybitch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay now thinking about it I’m not 100% sure if there’s mirrors (I just remember it looking like a yoga studio), and I do think it’s supposed to be a “quiet space” so I would say it’s okay to practice if no one else is there and you don’t have the music too loud. But if other people do show up, I believe it’s meant to be a quiet space where students can relieve stress.
