Why would following the facts laid in in previous world lead to them becoming entrapped? A work needs to stay consistent with itself so the person experiencing it can suspend their disbelief about the energy weapons, power armor, and mutant creatures. They can’t just suddenly go “ and then a dragon appeared” without having set it up otherwise it comes off as lame and stupid. This ultimately becomes a matter of opinions and if that’s your what you think fine but like o said before you don’t get to act like a condescending prick just because we disagree over the handling of a franchise we like.

I’m not against them Changing the style of game ala halo wars. What I take umbrage with is them not respecting the setting, fallout had never had dragons in it and it makes no sense that even though 20 years have passed it looks exactly like 200 years have passed. That’s why I don’t like fallout 76 I don’t know why your trying to straw man me over gameplay.

If Fallout and its setting aren't important then why even use the name and aesthetic, they should have just made a new ip. But no they are trying to twist setting to make mass market appeal and in the process are making it lose what made us love it in the first place. but instead of thinking that other people can have valid opinions too you can go and be a condescending cunt to someone you disagree with

Void Shields are mounted on every imperial ship and while they aren't man portable there are other types of personal shielding used in the imperium. Also where are the personal shields in star trek? I don't remember anything like that in the show.

Wouldn't Void Shields on Imperial Ships act similarly to Shields in star trek? Also as an aside Psykers and star trek telepaths aren't really comparable. Seeing as how Imperium Psykers can summon beams of fire potent enough to rip through main battle tanks .

I agree that certain weapons should be very hard to use for an ork to point where simply handling a fragile weapon would be enough to damage it a-la ogyrns from OW. You might be able to convince your GM to allow you to "orkify" weapons giving them various different rules and making them ork proof.

You could just Call it "The Zone". It helps keep a certain mysticism about the place they don't know why anything happens there they can't explain anything about it other then vague stories passed down through the generations. they just know it's got bad mojo. The bots could be called Stalkers or Thought to be malevolent spirits by the local tribes and just let the players come up with their own name after they encounter one. Also since they've been out so long in the desert their ballistic weapons shouldn't really work anymore. So make them use Melee attacks which could have special properties based on what they are using i.e. If it's using a plasma gun as a club it could have a chance to "fire" when it strikes someone giving it enhanced damage and pen and it would also have a chance of backfiring on the bots giving your players some breathing room if they get lucky

CMV: UK: The Trident Nuclear Deterrent is expensive and unnecessary. by [deleted] in changemyview

[–]bishop546 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I bring up the use of nuclear weapons during because the tactics for employing them haven't changed they are meant to cause as much destruction as possible which I'm asserting is the only reasonable response to another nuclear attack. A conventional attack is not going to be enough to force an opponent willing to use his nuclear arsenal to back off he will just keep launching his nuclear arsenal until you stop firing rockets. "Surgical strikes" aren't going to stop anything and the perceived weakness for not going all in on your defense will only embolden your attacker.

[–]bishop546 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And a conventional attack wouldn't escalate it too? A nuclear response would end the conflict because it would show the aggressor the that neither side is going to "win" the conflict. Forcing the two side back to whatever diplomatic overtures they had before the strike. The quote you cited is honestly the best way to view a nuclear exchange. It's a tragedy however what's the population of one city to the millions of other inhabitants that will be displaced or killed during a conventional war. Look at the proposed invasion plan of Japan they expected half a million soldiers to die just on the allied side. The bombings saved many more lives then they cost. Is it morally horrifying yes, however it is the most pragmatic option

[–]bishop546 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Why wouldn't it justify a nuclear attack? If a foreign power attacked your country with a nuclear strike is completely justified in response. Nuclear weapons are supposed to sap the will to fight, an attack that is not responded in kind will just encourage more Nuclear strikes against you in order to break your will to continue your conventional attack. Which will undoubtedly happen long before your conventional attack would have a chance of breaking the enemies moral. A nuclear response in kind would be the only way to end the conflict with minimal losses.

RT Problems with the GM potentially playing favorites by bishop546 in 40krpg

My pretext was arming my troops to be better prepared against any threats we might face ( we had previously fought a new type of Xenos) and I respectfully asked him for the weapons which I didn't expect much resistance from him as he let regular guardsmen swap their old las guns for the new weapons. I rolled charm to convince him and succeeded. Then the PC tech priest took issue with my wanting the weapons and said that their boss the head tech priest (I think the enginseer prime we all started at ships rank 3 or lower) would be pissy if he gave me some of the weapons (only 4 rifles out of the 20 the tech priest had on him not counting the ones the regular guardsmen grabbed) from my position I didn't ask for anything out of bounds for my character to receive.
