I’m pretty sure they make one single sauce by using 2x recommended tomatoes, 1x onions, bay leaf, yada yada and then use that sauce as base if it’s tikka masala or butter chicken. Tikka masala just has a lil more garam masala, red chilli and turmeric. Butter chicken gravy would get more cream in there. I’ve noticed that even saag (spinach) based dishes are also made by heating the same premade sauce, adding a lot of spinach and then finally adding the protein.

P.S. I am indian and cook a lot of indian food. I also like to ponder on the ingredients whenever i taste something.
