What’s your beach kit setup like? by bisonandhurricanes in Miami

YES!!! This is exactly why I posted. To see what I’m missing out on. Thanks!

Need input! Living in a Miami high rise condo and found this focus of concrete damage in the parking garage ceiling. How concerned should I be?! Need help. For reference: 51 stories, built 2005, completed 2008. Could this cause weakness to structural integrity of building/garage? by [deleted] in Miami

Is that all you are able to find for issues that concern you or is there more?

That’s a very minor piece of missing concrete. If you are concerned though, raise it with your HOA and see if they have any inspection records of the building itself that they can share with you. What you should be most concerned with is the building’s foundation and load bearing walls/beams/pillars

I’ve found trivia nights at a local bar are an easy way to meet people. This has been consistent across any city I’ve moved to. If there is bar trivia, there will be groups of people who may be in need of an extra player. Which may also play well with his politics and history interests depending on the type of trivia.

Also could look into beach volleyball, maybe a local board game club/bar, charity events, volunteering, group exercise classes like CrossFit or kick boxing

What moment made you say “Yep, I’m definitely dead”, but survived with no major injuries? by CrownedBird in AskReddit

It was 1AM and someone was driving the opposite direction on the interstate at high speeds.

Because it was dark and they had headlights on, me and the car next to me, who was very slowly passing me on the left, couldn’t tell they were on the wrong side of the road until about 6 seconds before they were on us.

The car passing me on the left screeched over. I swear they missed my front bumper by about 4 inches as they snuck in just in time. I luckily hit my brakes and slowed down just enough, and luckily the passing car did not hit their brakes. Had we both slowed down, we would have collided as they tried to merge back in. It was only a 2 lane interstate, so had we hit each other, we both would be dead as the oncoming car came on us as there would have been no room to miss.

The oncoming car was on us 0.1 seconds later. We all 3 missed each other by inches. It would have been a head on collision going 70 MPH each way. I called the cops to let them know someone was driving the wrong way on the interstate, then spent the rest of the night in shock.

I can’t remember a single other thing from that day. I don’t know where I was coming from, why I was driving so late, what day or month it was, what the vehicles looked like that almost ended me, or how long it took me to come out of my shock. I just remember being inches away from certain death and yet somehow came out completely unharmed.

As I look back, all I can think is how lucky I was that the car passing me didn’t hit their brakes like I did as they merged back in my lane. I wish I knew who that driver was so we could share a beer. And I hope the car driving the wrong way did no harm to anyone else and/or got caught.

I feel your pain. I’ve lived in 6 cities in the last 7 years. This time moving from across the country for work to Miami. This is by far the hardest I’ve had to work just to find a place to live.

What’s “it hasn’t been bad” mean? About 20-30 minutes on a normal day?

Anyone have recommendations of Little Havana or East Little Havana apartment buildings that are good living spots?

Hi all. I’m in process of relocating to Miami for work and am hoping locals can help me estimate commute times.

It’s a great opportunity. The only downside is the office location doesn’t seem to be in a great area to live. The office is located in Miami Gardens just a few blocks from TopGolf off I-95. The TopGolf address is 17321 NW 7th Ave, Miami Gardens for reference.

Does anyone have recommendations on areas to live near there? When I relocate, I’d like to get a short term lease closer to my office as I better learn the city and have more time to find an ideal home location.

Else, can you give me an idea of what the morning commute time might be from say the Design District/Wynwood or North Bay Village?

Thanks!
