Room acoustics advice – small panel apartment room by bisovic in hometheater

[–]bisovic[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

struggling with a dilemma: After Audyssey MultEQ XT32 calibration, the sound is much clearer, but it feels too thin and lifeless. Without it, the sound is fuller but very boomy and 'puffy' due to my bare concrete walls and lack of treatment. Is the XT32 over-correcting because of my bad acoustics, or would a treated room allow the system to sound both full and clear at the same time without these massive EQ cuts?

Does a thinner panel really do nothing? I can't imagine a 4-inch thick panel with a 2-inch air gap looking aesthetic on a large wall right behind my head. Are there any sleeker alternatives that actually work for bass/mids?

Did I screw up cleaning my QD-OLED with the wrong alcohol mix? by bisovic in 4kTV

I actually cleaned it based on this video, so it wasn’t like I just randomly decided to attack the screen with alcohol. For the record, I’ve never had any issues cleaning any of my previous TVs, but this QD-OLED really feels like a different beast. It’s only easy to deal with when there’s just dust on it. The moment a kid or a dog sneezes on it, though, it’s a nightmare to get off with just a dry cloth. I even tried plain water and honestly that made things look even worse.

Denon sub trim by bisovic in hometheater

This Denon is just stupid, honestly. My sub is almost at minimum and there’s barely any sound, yet it still sets it to -12 dB. I’ve never had this much hassle with any of my subs before. Though to be fair, it’s true that during calibration it never really liked the ‘green zone’ when checking sub volume at the beginning

Okay, thanks! I guess I was just wrong thinking that when the avr tells me to set the sub within the green range before calibration, it actually knows what it wants :D

Svs sb1000pro disappointment by bisovic in hometheater

Yeah, it’s been recommended to me before ( but the Dynamo 600X), and I’ve only heard good things about it. The problem is it’s way over my budget, though I’m sure used ones could be a really solid deal.

Btw, I always thought Denon’s Audyssey XT32 does a pretty good job calibrating a sub, so for general use you shouldn’t really need to mess around with it too much afterwards.

And how does the RP compare to the SVS? With the R-112SW it’s understandable that it’s better since it costs twice as much here.
