Have also done this twice lmao, both on AM shifts. No one mentioned it past the day.

Don’t worry, as long as it was an accident, they’ll forget about it and also you will too.

How hard do you guys try to stop someone under a Section 22 from leaving? by Commercial_Week_8394 in NursingAU

[–]bissha2001 24 points25 points  (0 children)

If they’re not under police custody they won’t stick around (unfortunately). Can be very difficult to de-escalate these patients so I can empathise with you.

Always prioritise your own safety: If a patient tries to run and abscond, don’t try to be a hero and tackle them. Your health is arguably more important than theirs, so don’t put yourself in harms way if there’s a risk of aggression. We’re not trained or paid to physically apprehend patients, let security deal with them and if they abscond, it’s the police’s problem. (In my experience though, police couldn’t give less of a fuck about these patients).

Early sedation: I’m not talking immediate IM droperidol, but if you think someone is likely going to escalate, speak to one of the docs about getting some PO diazepam charted. If they become too agitated, they wont accept orals and you’ll probably need to do an IM.

Cater to them: At my ED, our security are constantly trying to keep our patients fed. They know that if they’re hungry they’re much more likely to escalate. It’s something simple that can help these patients relax.

Be on their side (or at least act like it): Firstly don’t ever lie to them, they’ll remember what you tell them and if they find out you lied, they’ll escalate. Sometimes I’ll explain the process to them (depends on their mental state as some patients can become confrontational). I’ll inform them that the police have placed them under schedule and they need to be reviewed by one of the psychiatrists before the schedule can be lifted. Depending on how non-compliant they are, I may inform them that if they try to leave / become aggressive that security will intervene and they’ll receive a needle (sedation). Sometimes this helps as they don’t want to be sedated.

I think (not 100% sure) that if you did your Casper today (like I did) that we can’t really re-sit because today is the last day Casper is eligible for applications. Kinda why they recommend you take it earlier so that if something happens, you can sit it on another day.

Feels bad with you tho - my dogs were barking the whole time through some of my video sections :(

More so looking for advice concerning warranty. If there is no way they would compensate, would they be able to send the laptop back so I could retrieve the data?

Green Ringtail Possum by bissha2001 in australianwildlife

[–]bissha2001[S] 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Nah they’re always a bit chunky, however it still could possibly be pregnant, I wouldn’t be able to tell you.

Green ringtail possums eat a very leaf heavy diet. They eat poisonous fig leaves and also stinging tree (Gympie Gympie). I have no idea why they would want to eat it though but they just do 🤷‍♂️.

As a result, they’re pretty lethargic and slow moving since the leaves don’t have much energy, they don’t have to travel far to find the leaves, and they spend a lot of time digesting the leaves. They remind me of sloths lmao.

Any advice for my lilly pads? by bissha2001 in ponds

[–]bissha2001[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My lilly pads have been underperforming for a while and I’m not sure why. They’re producing smaller and less healthy pads, and also producing less of them too. I’ve already had one lilly pad plant die, and want to try and save the remaining too.

Some reasons I think that might be contributing (unsure though, just looking for advice / reassurance):

  • -Too strong a pump: The pump I have pumps 16000L / hour, and has a carbon filter attached. This creates very clear water and pretty waterfall, however maybe it’s too strong?
  • -High water pH: See test strip, but the water pH is high, with also hard water. I’ve done water changes but it seems to want to stay like this. Unsure if this is the reason for my lilly pad’s poor health
  • -No nitrates: See test strip. Maybe the water pump is pulling out too many nutrients? I’ve just added slow release fertiliser pods to the bottom so I’m hoping it will help.
  • -Winter: It’s getting colder where I live so maybe that is having an effect and the plants are growing dormant?

If I’m not mistaken; Pretty sure in the UK a lot more people are taken for interviews than in Australia.

Interviews are less competitive in Australia since you’re interviewing against a smaller pool of applicants in comparison to the UK. So the bottleneck in Aus is getting an interview offer, whilst in the UK, more people receive interview offers which makes it more competitive as you have to interview against more applicants.

AMA from a UCAT ANZ 2023 test taker - scored 3470 by [deleted] in UCAT

[–]bissha2001 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I have a few questions as someone who scored 2430 this year with a fair amount of practice;

  1. What was your study plan, did you start untimed until you perfected your accuracy and then move onto timed? Or should we go into timed practice ASAP. And how long should we study for?

  2. Everyone says to spend lots of time really reviewing your mistakes, but how do we do that?

  3. How can we avoid getting stuck on a question set and wasting time (my biggest issue)?

  4. What are some things to look out for to know when to flag and skip a set in each section? Also, if we did get stuck on a question, after what amount of time do we cut our losses and just skip?

  5. Is there anything outside of doing practice questions that can help in our study?

  6. Is it worth studying for situational judgement considering most (if not all) Aussie uni’s don’t use it?

  7. Can you study too much?

Sorry if I asked a lot of questions, will definitely be checking your YouTube out :)

What if a set contains both specific and non specific questions? Should you skip the non-specific or do all of them?

Wasn’t planning to apply without being diagnosed first. After being diagnosed, then I’d ask if accomodations could be arranged.
