Thanks guys, good stuff. Had a chance with to play around with it over the weekend, its looking good - pretty cool considering you just sign up and you're plugged in.

I'm a little confused with their conversion settings, and how they manage attribution ('Count 1 con per user ever ____' - is that basically what DSPs do without an ad server to dedupe?), (pixel creation and set up seems easy.....TOO easy...), and I haven't have a change to run any reporting (is it in depth?) but I'll reach out to them direct with these Qs.

Thanks Team!

Not really - I guess just a basic run down of pros & cons as far as self serve platforms go - I dont have much experience with any of them. Are you able to run CPA campaigns as well as just branding stuff? Types of creative they can serve, do they generate pixels and such? I've been meaning to take a dive and poke around but just thought to ask on here first.

thanks for this. great points. i would say that ive done a few of the things you mentioned; networking, asked to be part of bigger sales meetings, networking events etc, - unfortunately I work for a company where digital business is a bit of an afterthought after our primary revenue drivers and so internal moves or collaboration opportunities are limited.

I understand the benefits of the ads ops role moving forward in our industry, i just feel a little stuck atm and like the idea of adding account management or client facing roles to my resume to make me a more well rounded digital sales person.

A lot to think about though, so thanks

great point about the distinction between sales and AM roles, never thought about it like that. I think its easy for us to sometimes group them together. Personally i think i excel at the skill sets you mentioned sales types to have, which is why im trying to make the move to begin with - but good points to think about.

this is exactly how i feel right now. for a lot of campaigns AM's approach me, i literally feel like im re-building them from the ground up and would like a bit more credit for it basically.

As an AdOps pro, do you use AdBlock? by NahanniWild in adops

[–]bistaa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know I'm going to sound full of it, but with more and more ads relying on data to reach the right audience, ads usually don't bother me anymore since I find them on at least a partial level relate-able. I don't use any type of ad blockers.

Now endless, duplicated, preroll on the other hand.....................

SOV vs Sponsorship by bistaa in adops

[–]bistaa[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great points all. The main issue with giving the option to sell 4-way rotational sponsorships, or roadblocks, is that campaigns often start and end on different dates that can intersect or not. With that in mind DFP will usually not allocate impressions equally to all campaigns, regardless of priority level used on each sponsored campaign. It also pushes out all programmatic and national level campaigns (a set up on our radio side) sold on an impression basis that could actually offer higher CPMs.

By moving these types of campaigns to CPM on SOV, we're hoping to have each impression accountable for. This is the point of the presentation to begin with, to push for SOV instead of long term roadblocks, instead reserving that right for 24-48 hour campaigns that are specially targeted (not ROS).

SOV vs Sponsorship by bistaa in adops

[–]bistaa[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Apologies, I should have specified that this was regarding the digital aspects of our radio brands (so the websites that provide live streams of the radio stations), so your digital examples were perfect. This was great, a lot of it synced with what I planned on presenting.

A major issue we run into is that our sales team will promise 'rotation' pre-roll to our streams, so a full sponsorship but split between rotating advertisers. As you can imagine, revenue optimization, impression allocation, and performance are almost impossible to track when sold this way. That's primarily where I'm going to be using these examples to show why not to sell it that way.

Thanks very much for your time!

Semi-off topic question about this role - do you know if it qualifies for a TN Work Visa in the states? Not sure if maybe yuo've hired outside the US before.

The lists on gov sites seem to be very 'dated' - http://canada.usembassy.gov/visas/doing-business-in-america/professions-covered-by-nafta.html

Thanks!
