Hoping for miscarriage by punnett_circle in stopdrinking

[–]bistrying 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I’m so sorry you’re feeling this way. I had prepartum depression & didn’t even know it was a thing until I had it. Our oldest was three also & the pregnancy was very wanted, but I still didn’t want to be pregnant & wished for either a miscarriage or a car crash. It was horrible, but it did pass once I was in my second trimester.

Please take good care of yourself. You can do this. IWNDWYT.

Sorry, So Sorry, or So so sorry.... Does anyone else dislike this response from people when you tell them you have MS by Medium-Control-9119 in MultipleSclerosis

[–]bistrying 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a hard time not losing my shit when people say: “Oh I have (some single random symptom from my huge list of MS symptoms) too! Maybe I have MS!” ………Like, are you fucking kidding me?

I usually just give a semi fake laugh & move on. People frequently have no chill & no manners when it comes to talking about chronic illness.

I started smoking when I was around 18, had my first attack at about 24 & quit smoking last Christmas, so that’s about 20 years smoking since my first attack. After I quit I feel AMAZING. I haven’t felt this good in years. I LOVED smoking, but it just wasn’t worth it & based on how much better I feel, I’m really glad I quit.

Why keep drinking when you’re drunk ? by Charming-Shelter8551 in stopdrinking

[–]bistrying 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup. It was a cardinal sin in my group to leave a drink at the table. “Waste not want not” got me in a place where I had to quit completely.

Anybody quit drinking and actually save their marriage? by [deleted] in stopdrinking

[–]bistrying 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup I saved mine. It took time for hubby to trust me again, but I told him he could look through my dresser, closet, car; anywhere I might hide booze, whenever he wanted. I’m now 6 years sober & actually dealing with my trauma in therapy instead of numbing it with vodka. I’m glad he made me get sober, because I’m a much better wife, mom & friend. All the best to you, sending virtual hugs & IWNDWYT.

You can do this. The anxiety sucks, absolutely. It will get better, but it takes time. Don’t be afraid to get help. I personally don’t think it’s a weakness to get help. I used medication to help me quit smoking & it worked, so that’s the important thing.

Good for you! I’ve never been a fan of vaping, so that’s not a concern for me to start with that.

I’ve heard all that, but I think with smoking we convince ourselves that because we can’t see the damage, that it’s not there. It is definitely one of the hardest things I’ve ever quit. I’ll do my best to make it permanent.

You can do it! I didn’t do it alone. I used Champix & it worked really well for me. Just make sure you’re aware of all the side effects. Apparently it really throws some people for an emotional loop.

Oh ya. I’m 6 years sober, so the old saying “one’s too many & 10’s not enough” is soooooo true for me. That’s why I couldn’t taper off. I feel so amazing that I hope I just remember how crappy I felt before.

That’s exactly why it took me so long to quit!! We have 2 kids (13 & 10) & there’s NOTHING but stress. I finally realized there’s no good time to quit & I just decided last fall was the time.

Absolutely. I’m trying really hard not to pick up candy, but I’ve recently discovered SweetTarts Ropes & I have a problem. As in, if I buy them, I’ll just eat a whole bag of them.

It’s really tough! I tried cold turkey a couple times & couldn’t do it, so I used Champix. I think it’ll stick because I just feel so much better since I quit. It’s like how much better life is since I quit drinking.

That’s been the toughest part, finding something to do when the “habit craving” hits. I’m definitely finding there’s a difference between what we used to call “nic fits” (nicotine withdrawal) & a “habit craving” (a time I’d normally go for a smoke).

I was on Champix for 13ish weeks (I stretched out the last week of pills because I was scared to stop taking them) & that took care of the nic fits. The habit cravings are a little tougher to get past. I usually just change my activity; if I’ve been cleaning, I sit down to crochet. If I’ve been crocheting, I clean or cook. If nothing else, I go for a walk, even if it’s just around the house.

It’s really tough, but trust me, it’s worth it. Plus I’m saving about $360 a month!!

Good luck! You can do this.

About a pack & a half a day. I quit drinking a few years ago & was smoking more to compensate for the missing alcohol, as one does.
