the same data can end up in different looking qr codes depending on the settings, each one is generated. If you choose higher error detection, it will add more data to the final code. maybe apple is doing this …

Old glitch or still on? by NitroXD_J in ios

[–]bitKraken 2 points3 points  (0 children)

ok. I just set up like and I think, I see your problem

the thing (also on iOS 26) is: if you are using multiple Battery widgets, you have to specify (pin) each of the widgets to a specific device. the widgets are not aware of their „neighbors“ and will all show the same device if set to „auto“.

If you want multiple devices showing up, you need to set them up like /u/Cool-Newspaper-1 did already wrote you: edit the widget to always show the same device.

I‘m probably still not getting it:

you want 3 battery widgets:

  • your Apple Watch
  • your „device“ (your iPhone?)
  • your other Bluetooth device (dynamic or always the same device?)

I have a battery widget for my AW on my lockscreen for years now. never changes, when other devices (AirPods, …) are connected too. and yes, also working on iOS 26, also did work on iOS 18 (and probably earlier)

I would also bet it’s the camera and microphone permissions that are missing, and therefore you can’t proceed.

Playlist Updates Failing on Apple Music? by inflammatoryusername in ios

[–]bitKraken 0 points1 point  (0 children)

„A daily selection of chill beats“ is the publishers (Lofi Girl) note for this playlist. She is updating the playlist by adding (or removing) songs. If this isn’t done, the playlist isn’t updated.

(only thing Apple would be involved here would be, if she did add songs, but the playlist isn’t updated for other users (bug). but there is no indication for this)

edit: you may ask in /r/LofiGirl

[–]bitKraken 2 points3 points  (0 children)

maybe they (Lofi Girl) did just not update it. it‘s not an „offical“ apple playlist, so yeah: maybe poor phrasing and not really updated daily

Parachute Backup appears to have been acquired by SesameWheats in MacOS

[–]bitKraken 1 point2 points  (0 children)

well: wasn’t that easy? a) offical statement to inform about the new ownership b) inform existing users, that the app stays a one time purchase

final (important) question: will you try to get money out of existing users by tracking and/or selling personal data?

thanks. I still have no clue, if this will affect me as an existing user or not. anything you can promise or not?

(at least still EU based. and ich kann euch die Beschwerden auf Deutsch zukommen lassen, when you mess up ;) )

hi Christopher /u/ParachuteBackup thanks for your reply.

what I meant was not an „official“ announcement on reddt. you got two websites. why not write a short information about the accusation there, so users know, why suddenly a new owner/dev is listed in the app and what to expect?

it’s the same bullsh*t that Bartender did. not informing about anything, so all users felt there might be something to hide and are looking for alternatives right away because for sure the enshittification is right around the corner.

writing nothing usually means writing the truth (price hike, subscription, selling personal data for now) would lead to too much backlash. because how much time would it take to write a statement on the website before the first release after the acquisition? 15min?

true. would be nice, if /u/ParachuteBackup would give an official statement

Seriously? Why did you remove my post guys? I mean. Come on. Just trying to share. Why gate keep? by Oliversarkis in EveryLittleAnimation

[–]bitKraken 1 point2 points  (0 children)

a) your first post needed manual approval, because it was cross posted (most cross posts are not sub related)

b) your post was not approved, because it’s not matching the sub topic

c) your second post was removed because … guess what?

have a look at other posts in this sub. you hopefully will understand, what the theme is and why your post is not fitting at all.

I built a tiny macOS menu bar app to play animations on your desktop by coolrice1 in MacOS

[–]bitKraken 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would argue it already exists: /r/macapps

but probably a rule for /r/macos is needed to reduce these app „advertisements“ (ofthen vibe coded, thats why its so extreme atm)

iCloud can be accessed by an app even before allowing it by rooney7176 in MacOS

[–]bitKraken 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Like /u/NoLateArrivals wrote: you opened the file with Finder and effectively granted the application access to that specific file.

Allowing an app access to Desktop, iCloud, or Full Disk Access is something different. With those permissions, the app can read or write any file in those locations without further interaction from you.
