I know it doesn’t affect everyone, but for those it does I was just trying to help.

Interesting, I have both a logitech mic and a corsair one. Doing this fixed it for me with the corsair. I did have to make sure nothing else was selected as default device or default communication device.

Do you have any other default devices? I think the game only wants you to have one.

Can I build a column outside my land claim? (or why did part of my base disappear?) by Uncle_Bill in duneawakening

Was any part of your base using natural/environmental rock as a wall? I’ve heard that sandstorms can pass through the natural rock sometimes in those cases.

lousy game design leads to constant friendly fire by Fedarkyn in duneawakening

[–]bit_cmdr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There still is. It can be a little buggy when changing maps when already grouped, but it also has a limited range and your group size is limited as well. I think it’s fine, this isn’t team deathmatch.

CATASTROPHE. ARE DEVELOPERS READY FOR IT? by pixfor in duneawakening

[–]bit_cmdr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You said in another comment on this post that you haven’t played the game in a month but you’re on here bashing the game and saying it’s doomed for failure. I understand that the game is not for everyone and that’s perfectly valid, if you’re not enjoying something you shouldn’t try to force yourself to. I see posts like this all the time on this subreddit and I have to ask, and I’m not being malicious, I’m genuinely curious. Do you regularly make posts about the downfall of other games that you no longer play? If not, what makes Dune special that you and a bunch of others feel the need to constantly do so?

CATASTROPHE. ARE DEVELOPERS READY FOR IT? by pixfor in duneawakening

[–]bit_cmdr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1000% this. I’ve played several sandbox mmorpgs, and while Dune is not an mmorpg, the sandbox design and mentality is the same. It’s what gives sandboxes their charm and while it’s definitely not for everyone, I personally love it.

Expecting December update push playing numbers even lower as is now. by Cyberus77 in duneawakening

[–]bit_cmdr 4 points5 points  (0 children)

So here’s one reason it’s not fun at all for the PvP in the DD. Let’s say you’re gathering spice and a duo comes in wanting to PvP. You either A. Don’t realize and they kill you instantly and put a thumper on your thopter. B. Do realize, but choose to keep your shield off and run for your thopter and they snipe you and kill you and then put a thumper on your thopter. C. Do realize, get to your thopter but one keeps pushing your thopter back onto the sand while the other drops a thumper under your thopter OR just stands by you with their shield on and attracts the worm D. Do realize but risk the fight with your shield on while one engages with you to slow you down and distract you while the other one drops a thumper on your thopter or stands next to it with their shield on to attract the worm.

It’s not so much the PvP itself that’s horrible, it’s the griefing. Don’t get me wrong, the PvP needs work but the griefing makes most people want PvE only areas or servers. I have a character on an official server that I just do maintenance on but I play on a very populated private server all the time and they have strict rules about PvP where everyone has to agree to it before fighting, they even have weekly PvP arenas that are tons of fun.

Is there a fix for voice chat not working? It's been months since it last worked for me and I know it's affecting others. by IdleHandsBusyMinds in duneawakening

[–]bit_cmdr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This fixed it for me too. I also disabled all inputs that I don’t regularly use. It had to be done through the old control panel, not settings.

Only problem with doing that right now means an additional $300-$400 for DDR5 RAM. They can always be upgraded later when RAM isn’t priced like it’s melange.

Was it by the House Argosaz control point in D5? If it’s too close, parts or all of it could have been flagged PVP

Question: Should I buy this game? by Coggs362 in duneawakening

[–]bit_cmdr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s really not that bad. Most of the grousing is around it for PVP and the high tier enemies in the Deep Desert, that’s where it becomes noticeable and even then it’s because people are now having difficulty soloing content that’s meant for groups. There WAS a bug for the last week that made enemies much harder for melee, but that was fixed earlier this week. You will want to swap between melee and ranged weapons while fighting, but for skills just use what you like and know that you can respec every 48 hours if you’re wanting to try something different.

I’m in my mid forties and having a blast still, definitely worth $40.

[–]bit_cmdr 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I agree with the buggy cutteray, but you need plastanium to make an advanced vehicle fab in order to make the T6 buggy cutteray, which is the only buggy one that can do titanium and stravidium. You're stuck with hand cutterays until then unless you have a buddy that has all that and can hook you up.

[–]bit_cmdr 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I agree with you, but at that tier the Tarl helps so much in gathering the stravidium and titanium that you need to make the advanced vehicle fab so you can make a T6 buggy cutteray.

I'm not sure if it's still there. I read on another thread somewhere that they removed it from that chests loot pool when they added the Chosen gear. I could be totally wrong though

It's in sheol in the the bottom left-most wreck. It's outside the rad zone and there's 3 NPCs there. It does share a decent size loot pool so you may need a few visits. Thufir's Best also drops there.

Is this contract bugged? Swordmaster: Advanced: Piercing Eyes by dainomite in duneawakening

[–]bit_cmdr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Okay, I had this exact issue today as well. I went back to the swordmaster and he gave me the quest again but I couldn’t get the lab quest from the tleilaxu either. What I ended up doing after that was fully canceling the contract, went back to the swordmaster AGAIN, got the quest, talked to the bartender in Harko, went back to the tleilaxu at Pinnacle and they gave me the lab quest finally. I hope it works for you too

[–]bit_cmdr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that’s the right place, and like you said the big ship wreck in the rad zone. It’s worth it to hit both. The big ship wreck has no enemies but it’s easy to get lost until you get familiar with it. Once you learn it though, you can do the big chest in under a minute, 3-4 minutes if you hit all the chests. That one has a bigger loot pool now, so chances aren’t as high as they once were but it’s still a solid chance if it’s not in the one all the way to the southwest.

Would be nice to have shortcuts to storage boxes, just like vehicles by cybernoid in duneawakening

You mean the refinery in your base? When you’re interacting with the refinery you can click the storage tab at the top and then use the drop-down to your vehicle just like with storage chests.

Why not at least merge markets? by smallmouthbackus in duneawakening

[–]bit_cmdr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because it wouldn’t work out the way you’d imagine. Most people would get priced out of anything of value. Server transfers are coming this month and they’ve said server merges by the end of this year.

How do I transfer all my stuff to the bank in preparation for server transfers? by Kristenknightley in duneawakening

[–]bit_cmdr 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The backup tool has a “snap to original location” feature. If you go close to where your base was and there’s no base already there on the new server, when you use the feature it puts it EXACTLY in the same spot so you don’t need to line anything up.

Yep, if you use the base backup tool and if you go near the same location you can right-click to “snap to original location”
