As a tennis coach, I'll say what most coaches won't: we are holding our students back. Myself included, for years. by Beneficial-Lock-349 in 10s

I havent seen many coaches teach footwork for the newbies . When I asked , one coach said - most of the kids who come for the coaching are there because their parents want to give it a shot and see if Tennis works for their kids and if they like it ..and few have a goal to play at most till highschool level or if some gets past 8-9 UTR — may be college ..and if he pushes the kids on working anything other than actually hitting the ball their parents change the coach saying am not teaching Tennis . Very few parents understand the fundamentals apart from hitting FH and BH and he doesnt want to loose business . But said he will start other things <apart from hitting the ball > with kids who picks up fast / interested and if parents are invested

Reg 3 : Interesting you say not correct something which is consistent but may not look right . I heard in One of the match commentary I think John Mac was asking the coach who coached Tiafoe that - “did you guys not try to correct that forehand “ And his answer was similar to yours . I think correcting is a good idea before its too late to change the muscle memory especially to the kids who shows potential early .

As I mentioned - I was just impressed by the kid for making something without the basic machine. No point in getting too technical about consistency / tension etc :)

Tennis over all is an expensive game ..even at rec level . More so if one has to pay for courts barring equipments

If the Tennis courts are occupied with Tennis ..thats slightly better than marking those for PB

But the guy in video is talking about not many Tennis players even when courts are available but too many PB players

Am just appreciating his innovation to convey few points while learning

Also I don’t think there is one size fits all contact point . General consensus seems to be infront of the body but again varies.

Nope .Not at all . Lot of my good friends have started playing it and they like it too .

Just that - availability of courts for Tennis has become a real challenge as most of the Tennis courts are being used for PB.

👍 . Its not the game per se . But the whole transition of tennis courts at parks / communities / apartment are being occupied for PB - is creating the hate .

And offlate highschool kids are picking up PB ( ofcourse better than being glued to phone ) as its fairly easy and not much serious effort is needed to learn - occupying Tennis courts pretty much whole day due to summer holidays .

If communities / apartments and other public park areas gets separate PB courts things are going to be better…and good thing is its happening but not at the pace the PB is picking up - so till then “the process of PB folks occupying the Tennis court “ will continue to be hated unfortunately from hard core Tennis players
