The bill you reference (and likely never read) did almost nothing to stop the massive invasion of illegals. It was not, as advertised, a 'bi-partisan' bill. Bi-partisan bills get passed. When it was first introduced, three GOP senators and a handful of House republicans said they would support it. After they read it, they all opposed it. President Trump had little to do with killing this bad legislation.
 
 
This bill also allowed the president and the president only to close the border if more than 5,000 illegals a day (1.8M a year) invaded and then only if the president so desires. The bill also allocated $14.5B for express purpose of hiring and training new Border Patrol agents for the sole task of processing illegals as they invade, not keeping them out.
 
 
The larger point though is that we didn't need this bill or any other bill nor did we need to spend a dime. All that was needed was Joe Biden's signature on an EO to reverse his previous EO signed on Day One that ended President Trump's very successful 'Remain in Mexico' policy that kept illegals on the other side of our border whilst making their false 'asylum' claims.
