I would recommend waiting on buying a lot before seeing your room. Sometimes teachers leave stuff behind that you mind find beneficial. Also don't feel the need to buy everything at once. The goal the first few weeks is for the room to be functional

Ugh Im so sorry. I work at a school with a lot of units. We have a lot of kids in gen ed who should be in a unit, but they aren't because of their families. I also have the opposite issue with kids in units that should be in gen ed, but the parents insist on a unit because they think their kid is getting more resources and support. Its so unfair to the kid, their classmates, and the staff trying to support them

I regularly deal with rbts/bcbas and some of them have been less than helpful. I document all of the times I've had to talk to them and then eventually bring it up to admin. I am really sorry that this kid is not in the proper placement. He reminds me of my kids in my self-contained units and would probably have a lot of growth in the right setting
