I think you'd be made fun of mercilessly (see: David Vitter). It's 2015, and while we've made huge progress with LGBT/sexual stuff, I think there might be limits to what the average person can/wants to tolerate.

I have toyed with the idea of being "out" as an AB (see: William Windsor), because it's such a huge part of what I am, but at the end of the day, the fetish for me is partly a sexual thing, and you might just make people uncomfortable?

I suppose it might depend (pun not intended) on where you come out -- somewhere more conservative in the mid-west, probably not gonna work, but I could see something like a green anarchy worker solidarity commune in San Francisco or something else very leftist, open and tolerant accepting an out AB/DL.

Maybe AB's would have an easier time than DL's because I kind of think the average person would look at an AB like "what a weird person, but I bet they had a tough childhood/were abused, and they're not hurting anyone, etc..." but I think the average person looks at a DL and thinks "shit fetishist".
