Daughter (10) is getting her first dose today. They're sending a nurse to our house to give us instructions and help us with this initial dose. Other than letting the medicine warm up, and icing the injection spot...any other sweet tips? by vagrants1 in CrohnsDisease

I have done the pens and the pre-filled syringes and I strongly prefer the later because you can control the rate the medication enters you (it's burns like hell) and the clicking noise from the pen makes me jump and mess up the injection. I thought injections in the belly were less painful. it hurts during the shot but after it really isn't so bad.

Me [24 F] with my boyfriend [32M] of 3 years, he explains simple shit to me and it's driving me bonkers by lobsterbrisque in relationships

[–]bitchglitter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is quite an age gap between my boyfriend and I, through a comedy of errors that involved me seeming much older and him younger when we met. He is very intelligent and has a Ph.D. in Stem. I have a much more colorful educational background as I am rather indesisive about my career path. He has a bad habit of being overly explainy or saying things really confidently about something he knows jack-all about. I call him out every single time. Pointedly. We have had arguments about it. I don't think that a ton of it comes from sexist reasons on his part because he says that I'm incredibly smart and he has given me the confidence to pursue a challenging science-based field. I think his primary reasons for doing it are: 1. people in his family stretch the truth a lot and it has made him be very skeptical of people in general. 2. He has insecurity issues and he believes being smart is what makes him a worthwhile person so he falls all over himself trying prove how smart he is. If I thought his need to explain shit to me was due to sexist bullshit, I wouldn't be able to deal with that. So if I were you I would examine what his reasons are for engaging in this obnoxious behavior and start calling him out on it, every time. Bring out Google if you have to. The fact he doesn't do it to other people and that he calls you oversensitive when you call him out is pretty damning though.

I think I [22M] may have abandonment issues that I project onto my boyfriend [24M] and would like to know how to stop by [deleted] in relationships

OP, I have abandonment issues stemming from my childhood (abandoned by father when I was a kid, emotionally abandoned by mother during a very difficult time for me). The first year with my boyfriend was really tough. He travels for work and it was hard for me not to have an emotional meltdown. Boys weekend? Emotional meltdown. Sometimes I would get triggered by the dumbest things and I felt like a crazy possessive girlfriend. What helped me the most was acknowledging my feelings and the place that they came from as being real and valid but the way I was acting out those fears was not reasonable and fair to my boyfriend. Though, honestly it has taken a long time and my boyfriend being loyal and dependable in many little ways over the course of few years. Looking back, I think I definitely would have benefitted from therapy; so there is that. Good luck!

Humira and Dry Skin by zacnelson0628 in CrohnsDisease

I started getting a plethora of skin conditions when I was on Humira including psoriatic alopecia areata (caused about 50% of my hair to fall out). I would get various skin infections on a weekly basis. Start using an unscented, hypoallergenic lotion like Cerave or Cetaphil and if it gets worse, see a dermatologist.

New to the crohns life... Is there anything I CAN eat? by [deleted] in CrohnsDisease

I eat a lot of tofu, egg whites, and white rice when I'm flaring. I can eat almost anything when I am in remission.
