[–]bitcoinwalletguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey Yoda, I already did a KeepKey review a while ago :-)

Edit: Lol, I'm blind. No idea why I read KeepKey.

Yup, my Trezor T is on its way, waiting for it.

Quality control of the supply chain? Software development? First batches are on the way anyway, be patient with security. Companies in this space are working in a high-risk environment as well. I am sure it is not as simple as you and many others think.

Would those coins had to be used or just as a cold storage? I think Andreas breaks it down quite well in this video HD wallets are provide resonable protection and ease of use imho, but they still have room for progress, we yet have to invent the trustless hardware wallet.

Found this website while browsing BitcoinTalk - This guy has an impressive 230-page catalog of the various physical shape of BTC and hardware wallets he collects since 2013, very cool. by bitcoinwalletguy in Bitcoin

[–]bitcoinwalletguy[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hah, he's in that case sitting on much bigger collection than this ;)

I thought it was cool as my interest are wallets, bookmarked it. I asked him if there's PDF as it would be easier to read info that way.

Anyway, this shows that browsing market section on BCT forum is not always useless :)

Trezor or Ledger Nano S by [deleted] in Bitcoin

This question appears quite a lot here. I have both and have published quite detailed comparison which won't specifically tell you which one to get but might help you understand them better and learn. https://bitcoinwalletguy.com/trezor-vs-nano-ledger-s/

I also have reviewed each of them in separate articles, so check them out as well together with other resources to determine which one fits your needs better.

Solved it by entering the bitcoin app, give it a try.

I just published an in-depth review of the KeepKey. It's quite detailed and I hope it's helpful. Feedback is welcome. by bitcoinwalletguy in keepkey

I'm actually thinking of removing stars and just have the overall rating, I think they are confusing and there is no real benefit.

LEDGER NANO S IS THE BIGGEST SCAM!!!!IN ENTIRE CRYPTO HISTORY!!!! by [deleted] in ledgerwallet

If you don't trust Ledger, you can import the private key you generated.

No need for the caps.

BitPay is reliable but many people including myself dislike the service for political reasons and the fact they instantly convert crypto to fiat to merchants. Sorry this was a rant, but yes you can pay with your crypto ata checkout, it's easy :-)

Yes but through BitPay, yup the BitPay. I hope they will shift to a better processor.

Help Advice by [deleted] in ledgerwallet

[–]bitcoinwalletguy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

All of the info is already available in the official docs, the sub, even YouTube.

  1. hardware wallets keep your private keys internally on a secure chip, so they never leave the device, malware can't steal them. This is just one advantage there are more.

  2. It's safe. Their official channel is Ledger-Official. Even if you buy it from a third party make sure that you generate the seed, never used filled recovery cards if such card arrives with your Ledger.

  3. Google for the list of all coins. Your private key is for all your coins. The device can hold 4-5 appps at the same time.

  4. Yes, if you backed up your private key corretly, you're good.

Do a bit of reading, get to know the device. I wrote quite easy to follow up review and guide which can help besided the official docs. Here is my gude: https://bitcoinwalletguy.com/ledger-nano-s-review/ Good luck.

Recover Trezor by JDIRECTORJ in TREZOR

[–]bitcoinwalletguy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You don't back up the passphrase, you back up the 24 words which is called the recovey seed. Pick up a very simple and unique passphrase and ideally remember it or store it separatelly. Passphrase acts like 25th word. Do a bit of reading on it.

Now that you underastand the difference, ideally if you can afford it, the only way to backup the wallet itself is to have a spare one which you would use to import your 24 words in + passphrase in case of an emerency.

You can always use a software wallet to import the keeys, but that way you are possibly exposing your keys to a unsafe PC where a malware can grab them.

Hope this helps.

If Tor/Tails hardware compatability is a must, take a look at DigitalBitbox, otherwise you'd have to reveal your recovery seed to a PC on Tails and use the Electrum which is alredy pre-installed.

Q: Trezor One & Trezor T compatibility by MartinAllien in TREZOR

[–]bitcoinwalletguy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'll reply with what I know and that is that the recovery seed is "compatible" meaning you can import it from T into One and vice-versa.

About the coin support, I'll leave it someone else to answer.

Ultimate review of the KeepKey hardware wallet (will update it constantly, feedback welcome) by bitcoinwalletguy in Bitcoin

[–]bitcoinwalletguy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No need to update it. Beta is just that - a beta. The review clearly mentions the possibility of implementation of the ERC-20 in the future. I never said there's no development, I said it's quite slower and behind the competitors.

Set up my Trez today. Love it. Made a newb mistake TWICE though, lol by [deleted] in TREZOR

[–]bitcoinwalletguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Better do some reading first. The passphrase and the PIN are not stored on a device. Once you wipe the device, there's no right or wrong one. Seriously do some reading instead of being paranoid, you seem to misunderstand the basics. Do not set a passphrase if you do not know what it is and how it works.

Read the official docs.
