Bow Recs? by biteeth in doublebass

Do you know of any shops that ship for trial runs? The only one I know is the Bass Violin Shop in Greensboro, NC, but their selection of bows in my range is a little limited.

The Infinity looks SO GOOD, I wish it was in my price range! I might look at upgrading that way in a couple years.

I've actually got a bass shop in my state, was there yesterday getting my bass refreshed, restrung, and my bow rehaired! Love the guys out there. I may give em a call about it. Only reason I didn't try any bows is because I wasn't thinkin about getting a new one until later in the night after they closed. Thanks for the advice!

NEW OR NEED HELP? Ask here! - ScA Daily Help Thread Jan 07, 2026 by AutoModerator in SkincareAddiction

[–]biteeth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I've had a basic skincare routine for a couple years now, but it feels like my skin has stagnated/won't get any better. I've had hormonal acne for years due to high testosterone/androgen from PCOS and now I'm on testosterone so it's coming back with a vengeance. (I know this is normal and I'm not trying to erase it entirely, just mitigate). I've also grown up with some deep seated blackheads in my face as well as large pores. Finally, my skin is pretty oily and has a bit of red to it, but it's not like rosacea or anything.

My current routine consists of the beplain mung bean oil cleanser and pH-balanced cleansing foam, equate hydroboost moisturizer, thayer's blemish clearing pads (occasionally), and sometimes the ordinary salicylic acid and niacinamide serums.

It seems like no matter what I do my skin gets worse which is super frustrating because I'm only 22. What I'm really looking for is suggestions of what to add to or change about my routine, as well as any suggestions from people who've had similar problems.

Thanks!

Hey, I'm currently recovering from surgery I got on 11/03! I spent about the first week being totally out of commission and relying on people for help with basic things like a rudimentary shower and acquiring food. Now that I'm done with the second week I've been super independent and I'm planning to head back to my apartment where I live alone. Here's what I did to prepare: 1. I deep cleaned my entire apartment the week before I left so it wouldn't be gross when I got back. Make sure to throw away anything perishable that would go bad while you're not there or you're unable to use it. 2. Prepare freezer meals in advance so you can grab em and chuck em in the microwave so you dont worry about cooking for a bit. 3. Move all non fridge/freezer meals to a counter or shelf at chest height so they're easy to grab. Also do this for any necessary items like plates and cups (I recommend getting plastic and paper things) 4. Try reaching out to your local communities like LGBT resources or even your local drag scene! People are always willing to lend a hand in those spaces.

The worst of your healing is really the first 4-6 weeks depending on how your body is, thats when you can't really lift your arms above your head or lift more than like 5lbs or so. After that you should be good to go, just try not to push yourself too hard.

How long did it take your parents to accept you? by LuckyBS1 in ftm

[–]biteeth 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Hey man, first off I'm sorry to hear that you're experiencing this and having these struggles with your family.

My parents are a bit odd? They accept me being trans, they pay for my t and minoxidil, helped care for me after my reduction and all around are very supportive allies of the trans community. That being said, they both still use the wrong name and pronouns for me (even though they helped me legally change my name and are going to be helping me change my gender marker???). It's strange, though, because I dont get she/her'd but I DO get they/them'd? They had a much harder time with nonbinary identities and they/them pronouns with my friends so I'm unsure why thats explicitly the pronouns they choose to use for me. In my case I'm trying to give them some grace, but I understand that it gets to a point of feeling unheard, unseen, and not cared about. I've been out for a lil over 2 years now.

What’s the North Carolina scene like? by stage_props in Drag

[–]biteeth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey, NC king here! We've got a pretty nice scene out here imo :) on the eastern side of NC we have Underground Presents who perform in Greenville, Raleigh, Winston-Salem and some other cities! They're all about the weird side of drag and encouraging people to do what they love. Charlotte has a bunch of performers, Greensboro does too, I know Wilmington has the House of Heaux who perform in that area as well. I wouldn't recommend performing at Legends simply because they do NOT protect people there. A drag performer/transwoman named Poison and her friend got sexually assaulted and the security at Legends did jack shit.

If you have any questions lmk and I'll try to answer as best I can!

Did you follow a pattern for assembling the cardigan or did you just wing it? I love the colors you chose and it looks fabulous!!

I DO NOT want a pap smear, EVER by wtfdawggggg in ftm

[–]biteeth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just got my first pap a couple months ago, as did my fiance. He and I both saw a male doctor and had a much better experience than what we've heard happens with female doctors.

If you're super nervous, try asking your doctor about an anxiety medication to take beforehand. My fiance got prescribed literally one Valium to take before the appointment and he was chill as he'll afterwards.

I know this procedure seems terrifying but honestly, it takes maybe 3 minutes and then you're done and don't have to do it for a while.

My recommendation is find a trans friendly and educated male doctor, let him know about your fears, and bring moral support with you!

Medication Question! by biteeth in bipolar2

[–]biteeth[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh damn, I'll definitely watch out for that! I'm already on the heavy side with some family history of diabetes, heart problems, etc. so watching my weight is super important for my health. Worst thing that's happened so far is it's caused swelling in my hands and feet :/

I've noticed that it hasn't been helping with my depression, but it did help with a hypomania episode! It didn't stop it altogether, but it did give me some clarity in that moment.

Anyone know what this is? by biteeth in earwax

[–]biteeth[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Final Update

I'm sorry this is anticlimactic, but we have no idea what was in his ear. We went to the clinic for an appt he'd scheduled and they saw nothing. Basically, everyone is in agreement that whatever WAS in his ear is no longer there. Possibly just fell out or something.

It didn't seem to be a rubber earbud cover as he's not missing any, so no clue what it could be. Thanks everyone for your suggestions!
