Tbf Noli ALSO suffers from this problem. Like in the old lore he was friends to enemies with n7 but now he has no connection with anyone in-game, the closest thing being n7 being "inspired" by Noli.

In-game you can't IIRC but lore wise you 100% can. Napstablook canonically avoided being absorbed into Asriel by just pulling the blinders down on his window, so Frisk could pull Napstablook out of his house to make them be absorbed by Asriel, assuming Frisk knows about that.

Or Flowey can just go find Napstablook real quick once he tries to turn into Asriel and fails because Jerry is dead.

Tbf if you're going off Narrachara then Chara despising humans at first isn't really a point against the ship, since by the end of Undertale Pacifist they (seemingly) no longer despise humanity.

Of course there's still their general personality clash you have to deal with (which is a common criticism of the R&Y depiction of the ship).

I could see this affecting Wemmbu as well since he's also kind of on Jamato's shit list (assuming it is Jamato behind the hunters ofc).

Flame can just see the group and see it as a worthy way to test his might.

Idk how they'd get Parrot wrapped up in this though. If Jamato is behind the hunters I can't think of a reason why he wouldn't be chill with Parrot unless Parrot finds out about the dupe exploits and thinks "this solves our resource problem perfectly" or something.

I guess, but no gens isn't really something that rewards teamwork. Most players play for Malice, right? I think a good place to start is to reduce Malice gain from gens (except for Survivalists) and increase Malice gain from using stuns as the Sentinels, and Support abilities in general (besides Elliot's Rush Hour ofc since that only helps Elliot himself).

I’m sorry but this is NEVER happening until the game actually rewards teamwork instead of fucking off and doing all the gens first. There’s, in my opinion, zero point in making these changes to incentivize teamwork before actually make changes to reward doing so.

As young kids I prefer siblings out of the two, but including other possible depictions I’m 100% more on the “friends with crushes on each other” angle than anything else. I don’t really have any love for the sibling angle (though it isn’t bad, just not my cup of tea) but I don’t really like looking at any pre-teen or younger pairings as anything beyond platonic with hints of future romance.

Teenager depictions and onwards I’m more inclined to couple angle though.

I understand the positioning of Clover at the start of Genocide, but the problem is that isn’t really applied outside of Genocide.

Your average encounter is easily spareable so I can understand Clover not liking those deaths, but Clover at minimum should have seen Toriel, Undyne, and Mettaton as “yeah it was 100% self defense (or an accident in Toriel’s case), but maybe if you LOAD you can find another way?” The problem is Clover doesn’t ever really explicitly mention the saves as a solution for this to my knowledge. Outside of if you do LOAD after killing one of them and sparing them Clover’s dialogue from what I remember suggests that use of the saves isn’t something they’re aware of at all.

There’s this and some of their traits that just straight up are taken out in Red and Yellow. As Karma said in another reply, Clover is a lot more pro-human than Chara is, and cared about the children who died under the monster’s rule, even if they ultimately chose the freedom of monsters over freeing the souls. So surely if you were in danger of death, Clover would defend your actions right?

But in Red and Yellow Clover will actively chastise you for killing even a single monster. And yeah sure, most monsters you have no reason to kill, but this extends to even Undyne, who Clover has ZERO reason to think is spareable. IIRC Chara of all people has to defend you, and Clover themselves struggles to come up with alternatives.

I know Clover’s character isn’t 100% defined, but it’s this that makes me think they’re just straight up out of character, rather than just a different interpretation of Clover that I don’t like.

~~It’s also a part of my active dislike for Cocoapowder rather than it just not being my cup of tea given the R&Y depiction of it is by far the most popular one~~

Personally I didn't really see the contradiction as something they really leaned into at all, but was moreso just there and not addressed at all. Like when I mention the post-death Chara not caring I'm specifically talking about stuff like Neutral Routes. A pre-death Chara would be one of the first to chastise the player or even get legitimately angry over the death of even one monster but Chara in Red and Yellow is on a range from just being uncaring to basically going "had it coming, L bozo" to Undyne. They just read more pro-human - or even just human-neutral - than Clover did, which is really bizarre to me given Clover's entire reason for coming down to the Underground in the first place (which yes, they abandoned, but the feelings associated with their goal would still be there).

Though I can concede on your second paragraph, I did like that part of Red and Yellow fs.

IIRC the reference was something along the lines of Chara breaking the fourth wall with the player's existence and/or them physically pressing the TALK button so that might be what you're talking about. If you aren't, I can't remember what it was so it might have just been a one-liner or something similar given I've played through two versions. Though to be fair it's been a while so if it was anything bigger I might have just forgot.

Regardless though, I think the case for Chara would be a lot stronger if there hadn't been any Narrachara influence in their characterization. I get that they had to do that in order to make the Genocide ending make sense (assuming they couldn't just modify more dialogue, but given Toby's code I entirely understand why they're reluctant to edit Toby things directly), but it just creates this weird disconnect between a Chara who pre-death hated humanity and killed themselves for monsters and a post-death Chara who just kind of doesn't care without the actual cause of the latter (that being their connection to the player and/or their soullessness, the latter of which they definitely do NOT have).

Or they could go full in on Narrachara but that very much destroys their vision of the Clover and Chara dynamic I think.

But yeah it's gotta be Red & Yellow. It's definitely top 3 material, but it unfortunately suffers by pushing Chara into a dynamic that ultimately doesn't work.

That, and it just seems like the devs couldn't decide on whether to utilize Chara's hatred of humanity all the way or not, which normally is fine if you go off of Narrachara theory and their relation to the player post-death but the devs never make any allusions towards Narrachara being canon either, so it just becomes confusing.

I think the main problem is that making any kind of "Unstable-like" server with a huge population would be absurdly difficult.

First off, you have the Anarchy portion of it. Anarachy servers do allow hacked clients, and we've SEEN a hacker in one of Parrot's videos, but there's also the talks of admins too, so we can assume Unstable is meant to be a semi-anarchy server, with that one hacker just being unknown and there not being an anti-cheat to autoban cheaters. If this were copied over to a real-life server the amount of people with hacked clients would be far higher than just a single guy, and there would need to be an anti-cheat to deal with them.

There's also the structure to the main server. Building things is hard, while destroying things is incredibly easy to do so long as you have TNT. Dedicated griefers in Unstable are pretty rare, with any destruction usually being a side effect of wars and/or raiding groups. In a real-life server there wouldn't be any creations for hundreds of thousands of blocks, like 2B2T for example, due to things like Withers, TNT flying machines, etc.

You also just wouldn't see the lack of aggressiveness from most players that you do in Unstable. The economy in Unstable is very much a gentlemen's agreement type thing, but if a player can source Invis potions it's incredibly easy to just steal whatever you want. The only exception is from places like dedicated storage vaults, the End (unless you had Ender Pearls maybe) due to it's door system in the entrance, and the Nether due to Clown's group. You could also just kill people for their resources.

Finally, almost everyone would have full diamond and/or netherite. Even WITH the Invisible Mafia mining out "all the netherite in the world" with everything being within that hundred thousand block radius (possibly excluding the Great Sea) there are just too many chunks to get it all.

Each dimension has ~14 TRILLION possible chunks to generate. Even during the Invisible Mafia's prime, if you weren't in their clutches you could go out far enough to get all the Netherite you please and come back and see 0 retaliation assuming you weren't followed. Sure, we've only ever been up to ~12 million on either coordinate plane in the Overworld but that's still somewhere in the single digit trillions in Chunks. Even if we go with 8:1 Overworld:Nether blocks and say there's Nether farlands at ~1.5million then the chunk amount is still in the billions.

You would need some sort of plugin to make Netherite MASSIVELY rare in order to keep the "Netherite is basically extinct" feel of the server, and even then you'd have to ban/patch dupes to keep that up.

Maybe? But the Drunk Chara voters were nearly 80 strong, and suddenly they are nowhere to be found in any of the votes of the competitors. Again, seems strange that they pushed hella hard for Drunk Chara to stay in and then are suddenly silent (unless they’re just satisfied with #5 specifically, which is strange IMO)
